In Minatsol, being a dweller means that you are literally no better than dirt. In fact, dirt might actually be more useful than Willa. Her life will be one of servitude to the sols, the magic-blessed beings who could one day be chosen to become gods. At least her outer village is far removed from the cities of the sols, and she won't ever be forced to present herself to them... Until one small mistake changes everything, and Willa is awarded a position to serve at Blesswood, the top sol academy in the world - a position that she definitely did not earn.

I usually pass from YA books because are too naive, but this one was really funny (and naive, too, but not in that too sugary way that lets my teeth aching). I would follow the saga to see if it goes where I think it would ;D
The narrator feels perfect in the role ;)

Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

The story is great, takes care of bunch of loose ends from the other books. And lets you wondering what would happen in the next book ☺ But the audio 😕... is a great job from a wonderful team of narrators, but I think during the editing process something went wrong. Let me explain: when I check the sample posted prerelease in the author's blog I commented that the heroine voice has an echo quality that usually identify the Goddess voice. Now, in the released version all reverberations from the female voices are gone, so the heroine and the goddess sound alike. Except when the Goddess speak sloooowly, almost dumb. Weird, uh? Also, I think that the music or sounds inserted at the begining of the chapters are unrelated to the events to come and could be omitted. Sounds strange when what you expects would be an action chapter starts with peaceful sounds...

I like it, but i feel like I know the plot beforehand. I find the story predictible, the characters are ok, but I need more. This book is a space opera, an adventure book, no the usual material from this author. Could be perfectly used as a film screenplay, I think, or for a TV episode. Anyway, I would like to know what happens next. This characters had more to say. Just, let's go beyond the force, please. The narrator job is excelent, as always ;)

Her boyfriend's attempted murder leaves Megan floundering in the ocean. Sinking without hope, the bright light she sees in the night sky isn't her doorway to heaven, but rather the beginning of her accidental abduction by a space pirate. While thankful of his rescue, Megan stays true to form and just can't keep her mouth shut, even when he keeps threatening to kill her - or auction her off to the highest bidder. Even odder, despite her decision to not get involved with her wickedly hot captor, she can't help craving his touch.

Would you listen to Captured again? Why?

The story has good development but... I don't think I will listen it again because it makes a wrong impression for me. I think that the male voice sounds too old for the female character... Sounds just perfect when he's performing the older ones, but has ruined the main couple for me... Fortunatelly in some of the chapters regains force (when the others masculines characteres make an appereance), but in many its a just a grandpa voice...

Any additional comments?

I find the book a little slow paced, but that's a matter of personal likes ;)

At first, only a few things are known about the celestial object that astronomers dub Rama. It is huge, weighing more than ten trillion tons. And it is hurtling through the solar system at inconceivable speed. Then a space probe confirms the unthinkable: Rama is no natural object. It is, incredibly, an interstellar spacecraft. Space explorers and planet-bound scientists alike prepare for mankind's first encounter with alien intelligence.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

My brother! The love for Science Fiction runs in the family :)

What other book might you compare Rendezvous with Rama to and why?

It's hard to decide, but i think is comparable to Ringworld. Why? Because play with a possible future when humans are still humans, with flaws and greatness and carry on with inter-species problems with various grades of success... Great history, well stablished, individuals and societies well described and believables.

What didn’t you like about Peter Ganim and Robert J. Sawyer (Introduction) ’s performance?

The introduction was great! BUT the main performer seems DEAD! I bet the man is able to make it sound boring an entire NBA final! Keeps making pauses breaking the line of thought... I Iove the book but i CAN'T finish the second chapter of the audio! Painful! Please!!!

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

This audio book dissapoint me... THE BOOK NEVER!

Any additional comments?

Please make a new version with a performer alive, thanks ;/
