El Paso wasn’t the Promised Land that Ian and his crew had hoped for, but it wasn’t a total bust either. The concept of a safe haven in today’s world was a fool’s errand at best. This was the consensus of their tiny band and to keep moving their only salvation. While others waited in their pens, the four from the private security company moved on, taking on as many they could help, in hopes that they too would join the fight. Their journey was long and arduous, but it was worth it...they hope.

The author takes the entire book for character development, not necessarily a bad thing but once the main actors are established how about some story?
Honestly, I was constantly reminded of The Stand the author hops from person to person laying out whats going on and then switching to the next.
Another great book overall and I listen to a ton of books.

The beautiful saga about surviving the zombie apocalypse that David Simpson created continues. This book focuses on the relationship between Jessie, the disfigured road angel, and Scarlet, the daughter of the high priest of the Anubis cult. They are both damaged and young and have to bear a heavy burden for their age. Both have powers beyond human capacity. Both are the children and heirs to their fathers' legacies and empires, and they should be mortal enemies, not working together. They should be trying to kill each other, not trying to save what's left of the world.

First let me begin with how much Wren, Ren? Whatever her name is on the second half of the box set. I found her character very annoying and too dumb to live. But of course she didnt.
Her character did everything wrong and still squeezed past all the trouble she forced on everyone else.
I found myself hoping in the finale that she was sacrificed for the good of the story.
Oh well.
Other than that the first half of the set was a fun listen.
