This was a special listen. It was steamy but that is not what made it so. It was the tenderness & love that was shown throughout.

This was as good as expected. I recommend this to any interested in the ancient history of Italy. It is a virtual trip to the inner workings of museums and religious icons there. It is a little heavy with the language & detail therefore a little difficult to keep up with names & places. The basis of the story gives one pause to ponder.

Enjoyed the interaction between the characters. I liked the undertones of how a relationship should be based on honesty. Will continue the series

In keepineg with his short past this second addition to the trilology is as good as the first, almost. The adventure continues and is very exciting. I fear the need to be lengthy may have caused this second volume to be a bit too wordy. Other than this complaint I enjoyed it very much. I am anxiously awaiting the next installment!

Ho-hum

I found this book entertaining but a little slow. I love the saracasm and wit of Bartimaeus. He is very intelligent and the saving grace of this second volume. I like the fact that it leaves you hanging and wanting a little more. I will probably read the next one just to see what the characters gleaned, if anything, from this last experience. At least it ended giving me the impression that a different mind set might be there for a couple of the characters. What about that war in America too?

This is not a long selection but just a "nibble" to tide you over until the next book is written. It was interesting and was in keeping with the story line of his previous works. I liked the rather light sentimental agenda for a change. Not enough "meat" though.

Couldn't pull it out of my ear

I adored this second book. It introduced a new character which added more flavor and dimensions to the already inviting plot. It made me want more. The similarities to Bible stories was a little nervy and might be disturbing for younger readers,in my opinion. Still, an excellent and involving story that appealed to this adult reader tremendously. I reccomend that parents read it first if concerned about Biblical aspects.

Thrilling and heart breaking

This was the most eventful of the trilogy. It is because of this that I believe it is somewhat difficult to follow all of the characters and their adventures. It has an ending that is satifying and heart breaking yet leaves me interested in knowing where the characters go from here. I sincerely hope there will be more to come. I want to know how Mary and Will fair back in their world and what happens to Will's mother and how much she knew. There was also an unanswered question as to the person the main couple had already met that was going to help them adjust to their unexpected situation. It was an exciting thrilling adventure and I want more!!!

Unique and Addictive

This was a most unique book which borders on fanatasy and science fiction, my personal favorite genres. I am most anxious to indulge myself into book two. The concept of having an intuitive "daemon" is most appealing to the pet lover in me also. The only negative I found was the use of scripture and Bible stories which had been altered to "fit" the book's content. This could be misleading to a vulnerable person not aware of the accurate version of the scriptures and Biblical story. I feel this should and could have been excluded from the story. The story would still maintain its mystique.

Adventure and excitment

I really enjoyed this adventure mystery. It was exciting yet a little predictable with a few surprises sprinkled through out. I like plots laced with a little romance to spice it up just a bit like this one does. I am not so sure however that the title isn't a little misleading. It is a good listen though with vivid descritions that help the "reader" picture the situations nicely. I reccommend it.
