I had high hopes for this book! I was so excited about this book after reading the reviews and listening to the sound byte. Kristi Watts does a GREAT job narrating the book. One of the best narrations EVER!
The problem (for me) came with the story itself. I bought the book because I wanted to learn more about using/ speaking God's promises. While I expected that the author may include some things from her own story - I expected it would be liberally interjected with how she utilized scripture, and maybe even some of the promises she claimed. That was not the case.
Three hours into a five-hour audio she is STILL spending the majority of the time sharing assorted details of her ex-husband, and the effects his lies and eventual abandonment had upon her and their son. At one point she switched gears (briefly) and shared another story that did nothing to educate, edify, entertain me. She met a wonderful counselor who was helpful in expediting her healing by being personally transparent and offering her unconditional love. OK, that is great for Kristi, and I don't begrudge her that, but frankly, that doesn't help me. Uh, where is the part about speaking scripture? Where do I learn how to talk myself happy, Kristi? It's all but non existent in this book. I suspect that the author did not have lot of content, practicality, or sound advice to offer and consequently used her own story as "fluff" to pad the book. Problem is I got tired of hearing the details of her pain and struggle - no matter how brilliantly it was narrated. After 3 hours I just could not care anymore about what had happened to her. I wanted to love this book. But in the end, I found that the author didn't offer me anything I couldn't get for free while listening to a christian divorcee' folding clothes beside me in a laundromat.
I bought this book to learn how to "talk myself happy" using scripture and apply it to my own life situation(s).
I am sorry to be so critical of this book, but to be honest, I have to access this book as a failure. A real disappointment.

Prosperity. It's one of the most dividing words in the church. Some pastors use it to tell their congregations that God will make them all rich, rich, rich! Others spurn the word and insist that true Christlikeness is found in forsaking all worldly riches and possessions. The truth is, both are right - and both are wrong. With refreshing honesty, humor, and keen insight, best-selling author and pastor Kris Vallotton mines the Scriptures in an eye-opening study of what the Bible really says about money, poverty, riches, and wealth.

When we let this enemy inside the temple of the Lord, (our heart and mind) and into our government entities we will begin to live a life of deep sorrow and regret.

GOOD CONTENT -BAD SOUND...

I am returning this, but may get the book. I was actually really looking forward to this audio book, but the audio is not good. Narrator should learn what a condenser is before attempting future recordings. Unfortunately her performance ruined this one for me.

You can hear every breath, annunciations of p, t and s's along with scratchy background. Poor audio, bad sound quality, amateur narrator. :(

Sorry to be harsh, but I couldn't get through this. It's over 17 hours and the bad audio was too annoying and distracting - after 30 minutes, I gave up.

I am a Christian, and I will be returning this book. While this book has Jesus in the title, and uses scripture throughout the content, it is NOT Christian in it's teaching. The author focuses on the Love within EVERYONE, and how ANYONE can let their light shine - it is very New Age sounding, and focuses on man's innate love and goodness while making no mention of Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.

Author does not profess the divinity of Jesus Christ, man's sinful nature, mankind's need of a Savior, and the saving, redemptive work of Christ on the cross. Instead it focuses on what WE can do and man's innate goodness and internal, loving nature. NOT! If mankind was basically good Jesus would not have needed to be crucified!!!

The author says that you don't need to be a Christian to follow Christ or Christ's example -implying that Christ is just a great example of what it means to be loving, rather than our Savior and the Son of the living God.

Acts 4:12:
There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.

This book is both Dangerous and Deceptive.

I learned something very valuable in a silent season, and that is that I shouldn't be trying to build something when I was supposed to be cultivating my spirit. I was supposed to use that season to spend time with God, grow, and rest in him - not step out on faith and try to do something out of his timing. How many of us are making "faith moves" when we are supposed to be resting? You will find yourself tired because you built something that wasn't even for you.

I had never heard of Heather Lindsey prior to purchasing this audio book. I have been going through a rough time at work with a difficult boss, and it has been VERY stressful. I am the breadwinner in my family. My family relies on me and my income. To make matters worse, this isn't my first time dealing with the same kind of boss, and the last 2 times things ended badly for me. But this job feels different. I feel the LORD gave me this job. I like my job. Liking my boss is harder. Dragging myself out of bed each day to face another day at work is a HUGE struggle. Crying on my way to and from work each day is getting old.

Heather's audio book has been a healing balm for me. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS BOOK! Heather's voice is edgy, with a just the right touch of lightness, and humor, yet still deeply comforting. Both her tone and words convey a genuine warmth, understanding and wisdom. As Heather was sharing some of her lived experience I found her honesty, and her vulnerability disarming. It is very easy to make a real heart connection with her. She is real. She is raw. She is human. Heather exemplifies hard won wisdom gained through trials, tears, doubts, and stumbling.

God doesn't deliver us from the darkness, He delivers us IN it.

Uncannily Heather hit upon every despairing thought I have had in my current trial. She compassionately touched upon every nagging fear, and the bad choices I am inclined to repeat. What I love most is she reminds me of who God is (the wonderful, loving Father I forget when I am stressed the heck out!)....no matter how big my troubles may seem, my God is BIGGER. She reminds me that He is fighting for me. He won't abandon me. He hasn't forgotten me. Sigh....This audio was the perfect combo of comfort and wisdom I needed. Having spilled my guts this far, I don't mind sharing now that I wept like a little girl during parts of this audio book. I was so relieved to hear Heather's encouraging words and inspirational, biblical Truths. This book revitalized me and filled me with boldness, confidence and faith.

Yep! I AM going to make it through this!!!! And
I will listen to this audio book dozens of times!!!!

God is going to turn this situation around to work it for my good. If God is for me, who can be against me?

This book is a blessing. I have purchased 100's of audio books in my time, and this 1 is of my all time favorites.

Thank you, Heather.

Almost 60 percent of those in American evangelical churches believe that many religions can lead to eternal life. But if Jesus is to be trusted when he says that no one comes to the Father except through him, the church is failing in its mission. And it's not hard to guess why. An exclusive Jesus just isn't popular in our inclusive world. Dr. Robert Jeffress calls on Christians to recover the exclusive claims of the one they claim as Lord and Savior, not as a way to keep people out of heaven but as the only way to invite them in.

I enjoyed this book of much more than I thought I would. The author has a great way of rationally & intelligently speaking to and about a heated topic that often causes unbelievers to feel offended, and believers to try and detour the matter gracefully. There is no graceul way. There is no way to sugar coat a fact that folks don't want to hear. There is no shades of gray with God for He is the Truth, and He is Absolute, not subjective.
Jesus said, point blank, "No man cometh unto the Father except through me", it is amazing to me that so many will deny, and dodge and this Truth. EVERY other religion other than Christianity is a denial of the one true God, and Jesus is the ONLY way to heaven.
This book deepened my faith and my christian convictions, but it probably won't be well received by those who just do NOT want to accept the bible as the Word of God.
Odd, we get that our landlord makes the rules and we need to follow them or be evicted. We understand that our boss makes the rules and we need to follow them or be fired, but when it comes to GOD, many still believe they can do whatever they want, follow the religion of their choice, make their own rules, and they expect God should just love them and there should be no consequences for the rebellion.
And they will take their misguided beliefs and lies to hell with them unless they repent. I pray this audiobook opens eyes of those who are yet still blind to the Truth.

I love Randy Clark and really, really wanted to listen to this today. I had read other reviews on the narration of this book, and even listened to the preview. I took a chance and purchased it anyway. I shouldn't have. Not only is the narration HORRIBLE, but the audio and sound quality is also TERRIBLE!!! Widely disappointed in this performance, and I was aware of the bad reviews, but was also very motivated to work with a bad narrator (to a certain degree) because I so wanted this book on audio. I couldn't finish it or pay attention. It's just too distracting to try and take it in. I will definitely seek this out in a paper back. I really enjoy Randy Clark's voice, tempo and cadence...sure wish he had of done his own narration on this one.

Reviewed: 03-24-16

Is there anything you would change about this book?

There is a lot of good information in here, but it has a fatal flaw, and it is one that has crippled the Christian Churches. Skip preaches that a Christian cannot be POSSESSED by an unclean spirit (demon), and while it is true that a believer cannot be POSSESSED by a demon or Satan, a believer MOST CERTAINLY CAN BE INFLUENCED by one and that can make ones life a hell. As a Deliverance Minster, I know this is much more common than many can even imagine!!!! Demon influence is Epidemic among Christians today, and our churches are filled with believers, who truly love God, but are oppressed by Demonic influences. To listen to this a Christian is likely to be led to FALSELY believe they (believers) don't need worry much about demonic influence in their lives. THIS IS A DANGEROUS TEACHING! The truth shall set you free!!!!! IT IS PREVALENT IN OUR CHURCHES TODAY AND YES, EVEN AMONG GOD LOVING CHRISTIANS. To believe otherwise is unfortunate as itgives Satan the ability to torment believers and keep them shackled in chains of poverty, infirmity, lust, addiction, anger, shame. All of these things and more can be symptoms of demonic influence!PLEASE, research this matter more fully and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you to discern what is and isn't true. Don't believe any man but pray that God give you a direct revelation on all matters. Don't think that God cannot or does not speak to you. God created us for Fellowship and HE wants to talk to His people directly. You can deny that fact, refute it, and ignore it but you cannot change it because YOU did not create yourself. The bible is meant to lead you to an experience of God (Jesus Christ) through the filling of The Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit helps bridge the communication between God and His chosen ones (believers)I think Derek Prince is a much better authority on matters of expelling demons. See his audio, They Shall Expel Demons, here on Audible.Jesus told his disciples to go and cast out demons, cure lepers and preach the gospel. That is a direct message to believers today. Want to know what God's purpose for you is? Want to know what your ministry is?MATTHEW 10:8 (King James Bible)"Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give."Skip argues that the people Jesus cast demons out of in the bible were not believers, but this is not true! Look at Peter's warning:1 Peter 5:8 -- "Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour."The book of 1st Peter is a General Epistle (Apostolic Letter). It was written to ALL believers in general. Peter is cautioning believers here, NOT unbelievers, that YOU are in act susceptible, EVEN as a believer!!

Did Spiritual Warfare inspire you to do anything?

Inspired me to study more on the matter and find bible passages that directly refute Skips false teachings. There are many!

Any additional comments?

DO NOT LET THIS BE YOUR INTRODUCTION TO THIS MATTER. SEARCH ELSE WHERE - THE TEACHINGS IN THIS AUDIO CAN BE DANGEROUSLY WRONG AND DETRIMENTAL. Believing what he teaches here could literally leave you tormented by demonic influences that can steal your victory and joy in Christ!

I love, love, love this book! I am a huge fan of Joyce Meyer's, but sometimes struggle with audio books because if I lose focus for a moment I often lose the story line and then my interest wanes altogether. Not so with this book. It has 365 segments, one for each day of the year. But what really surprised me is the depth Joyce shares for each day. I was worried it may be real light weight, feel good stuff, but it is wonderfully deep and thought provoking EACH day and if you miss something, its easy to pick up again, without having to rewind, or just wait a few minutes for the next day's amazing message. I love to fall asleep at night listening to an audio book as I wake often during the night and like to have something to listen to and focus on so my mind doesn't race over the previous day's events. When I wake and hear Joyce's wisdom it is a special kind of comfort and with over 16 hours of recording I can wake up and still have 8 hours more to enjoy, on my walk, making breakfast, etc. It is a blessing to me day and night, literally..... THIS IS ONE OF MY ALL TIME BEST AUDIBLE PURCHASES and I have been a member for years! If you love Joyce you will love it too. If you don't know her it would be a great introduction. I have listened to it twice through and will just never get tired of it. There is so much to value and love with this purchase.
