I was happily surprised by this series. The narrator is really good. I felt like I could have fallen in love with Shadow. He was so sweet and innocent and he was trying so hard to learn. He let his emotions show and wasn't afraid to do so. My favorite moment in the book came when Shadow showed Gray how much he loved him when he took control when Gray had trouble doing what the Club required (trying not to give anything away). I dare anyone to not fall in love with Shadow at that moment. Hearing the vulnerable sides of these bad ass guys is a plus for me. You won't waste your credits by getting the series.

I really enjoyed this book. The storyline, the characters, the thought process of the killer. I did not care for the narrator and I almost stopped listening at one point. I am so glad I did not. I look forward to the next book in the series.

Loved the story but the narrator....

I enjoyed the book and will listen to others by this author ONLY if the narrator is a different one. I almost stopped listening due to the narrator but I kept listening because I was liking the story. It really is true that the narrator will make or break a story. I may order the book via Kindle and read it just to get a different perspective. So if you like this genre you will like the author but I would caution you on the narrator. He is flat, reads as if he is reading aloud and not putting anything into the story. Try the Kindle version first.

The 3 women and their men haunted me with their stories. I thought about them after I finished the book, wondered why they made the choices they did even though the book told the reader. I didn't understand Kate's decision but was happy with the outcome. This really is a very good book and hope these authors collaborate again. I was thrilled to hear the words Tradd Street slightly mentioned as a nod to Karen White's books as the Tradd Street books are a favorite of mine.
The fascination on how this all comes together at the end is great. You won't be disappointed in this book.

Would you try another book from Christine Feehan and/or Phil Gigante and Natalie Ross ?

I have read/listened to every one of Christine Feehan's books and will continue to do so.

Would you be willing to try another book from Christine Feehan? Why or why not?

I've enjoyed all her series with the exception of this particular book.

Have you listened to any of Phil Gigante and Natalie Ross ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I enjoyed listening to both of these narrators together.

Did Dark Promises inspire you to do anything?

Shake my head wondering where was the action, the plot. It left more questions unanswered.

Any additional comments?

This one was a disappointment to me. First, I never thought I would say this but almost every time I turned around it was another sex scene. There seemed to be no "story" just sex. We never got to learn about Alexei or Fane. Second, I wish we could have had more interaction with Fane and Trixie. Third, when Gary went to the Warrior's Cave, why and what happened? Did I miss something there? I actually cried at what happened to Gary, especially at the end when he called her Gabby. I know we will have a story about him but I thought this was supposed to be it. I hope we learn more about the ancients we were introduced to. I guess I was just thinking this one was going to be something it wasn't.

This book started out a bit slow and I had a hard time get past the narrator but I am so glad I did! It blew me away. I could not stop listening. I was so anxious to find out what happened to Claire. I don't want to give anything away but I am so very glad I got this book. I plan on reading the author's previous one now. This book made me do a bit of research and I was horrified to learn just how easy it was to put a woman in a mental institute back then and was horrified to read and hear of "treatments". This is a must listen too.

Once I started listening, I could not stop. Before I knew it the book was done but not before there there a few twists and turns. I enjoyed the thorough descriptions in the author made of the island, the people and their seemingly ordinary lives, which were not so ordinary underneath. I look forward to more by this author.

I wasn't sure what to expect but this book hooked me. I love listening to Robert Petkoff and could do so for all books I listen to. He does an awesome job narrating this book. I found myself going through so many emotions with this book. I don't want to give any spoilers by going through any of it. I would recommend this book. I found it well written, very well read (as only Robert Petkoff could do) and look forward to Charles Dubow's next novel.

At first I wasn't sure about this book but the narrator kept me listening. I am so glad I did because I LOVED IT!!! I've just downloaded the others in the series. The narrator was great, the story itself kept me listening to see what would happen next. This book is one of the best I've ever listened too. You love and hate the characters. You laugh and cry with them and can feel the emotion, the struggle that Matthew goes through. I was so moved by the feelings between Matthew and the Magistrate - it was indeed like a father and son.

I don't think you will be sorry with this one.

I got so hooked on this book that I was hard pressed to put it down. I find myself wanting to learn more of the history presented in the book, want to learn more of the characters. The narrator was great! I plan on listening to this one again.
