Stealth. Gorgon. Regenerator. Cerberus. Zzzap. The Mighty Dragon. They were heroes. Vigilantes. Crusaders for justice, using their superhuman abilites to make Los Angeles a better place. Then the plague of living death spread around the globe. Despite the best efforts of the superheroes, the police, and the military, the hungry corpses rose up and overwhelmed the country. The population was decimated, heroes fell, and the city of angels was left a desolate zombie wasteland like so many others.

Surprisingly not bad....

So, I am not a big zombie fan, don't usually read this kind of book. Having said that I will also add that I was rather pleasantly surprised! A bit gory and the duel narration was not my favorite, but I really liked the Heroes and I liked how the Zombies came into existence. Like I said I have never read a zombie book before so can't and won't compare it to others. But for me it was worth the buy and I think I would buy another book from this author.

Grady Adams lives a simple, solitary life deep in the Colorado mountains. Here the 35-year-old carpenter works out of a converted barn, crafting exquisite one-of-a-kind furniture. There's little about this strong yet gentle man to suggest the experiences that have alienated him from the contemporary world. But that is about to change.

Had to double check to see if this was abridged!

So much to say, so little space. I love D.K. Books. This one was so choppy and inconsistent that I had to double check to see if it was abridged. The story started out well, and really had a lot of chances to expand, unfortunately it ended very flat and abruptly. I also wonder where the editor was.. little details (mind you this is a picky detail but clearly illustrates how inconsistent this book is) One of the character is said to be an award winning quilter, that is how she makes her living.. OK cool as quilter I like that... a little while later in the book, there is mention of Henry laying something on the Chenille bedspread... Hmmm award winning quilter, not a quilt on the bed... Yea that was a huge mistake! The entire book read this way.
So, save your money, or like someone else said, buy an earlier book, but for heavens sake save your self the frustration of wanting to enjoy this book but can't because he does not flesh is out!

Good book, Bad Narriation!

Well, this is my first review. I have had a ton of fun readying this series, that was until now, oh my! I really hate it when they change narrators mid stream, and in this case they could not have picked a worse person. Gigi Bermingham give every character in this book a little girls voice! From Rachel, to Ivy to Jinks to the Gargoyle Biss, all sound like 3rd grade girls! I am struggling my way through this only because I know the old narrator is back for the next book. If not I would have ended reading here, it is that bad.
Oh and I won't start on the miss pronunciation of names and terms in this book, I find myself uttering the proper pronunciation every time! UGG.
Other than that, the book is well written, much like the first five. Final thought, if you love the others you will like this one, just grit your teeth when you listen!
