In the beginning I was concerned the main character wasn’t going to be tough enough. Then as things went along not only did Layla show her strength she also became even stronger than I expected.

I am so excited to have more Avalon stories to enjoy. Thanks to the author for another amazing story. Also kudos to the choice of narrator, great job all around.

Can’t wait for more!!

No one knows exactly when it began or where it originated. A terrifying new plague is spreading like wildfire across the country, striking cities one by one: Boston, Detroit, Seattle. The doctors call it Draco Incendia Trychophyton. To everyone else it's Dragonscale, a highly contagious, deadly spore that marks its hosts with beautiful black and gold marks across their bodies - before causing them to burst into flames. Millions are infected; blazes erupt everywhere. There is no antidote. No one is safe.

From the first few sentences I was hooked. There are so many end of days books out there, it’s hard not to sound similar.

This is a completely new take on those types of stories.

The best part is some of the main characters you love and hate them, which for me that made it great.

Also honestly if it says Joe Hill and Kate Mulgrew you know it’s gonna be amazing.

Even in Empire City, a town where weird science is the hope for tomorrow, it's hard for a robot to make his way. It's even harder for a robot named Mack Megaton, a hulking machine designed to bring mankind to its knees. But Mack's not interested in world domination. He's just a bot trying to get by, trying to demonstrate that he isn't just an automated smashing machine, and to earn his citizenship in the process. It should be as easy as crushing a tank for Mack, but some bots just cant catch a break.

From the beginning of the story I just couldn't understand where the characters were coming from. For instance, as disaster struck the characters glossed over a lot of what they saw without seeming to be too upset and focused more on how other characters were handling things.

The Spacemans wife came across as very bland. As I listened I kept thinking there needed to be more emotion so that I could identify with the situations more.

I loved this!!!! I don't think I would have noticed this book at first, but so glad Audible let me try it. Thx Audible!!

The action, story and narrator are wonderful. This is a story exactly as it states in the title so I won't describe the story just my opinion,

From the very first minutes I knew I was gonna love it. The only tiny thing was there was a big moment of silence between chapters which was strange but in no way affected the story for me.

I've listened to it 3 times already, so.............just one more time, I love it.!!

Show me an amateur conjurer, and I'll stop him before he gets himself killed. That's the idea, anyway. But New York City isn't what it used to be, and I don't mean the recent crash. Amateur casters are calling up creatures they shouldn't be able to. And there's been a murder at the city's most hallowed cathedral, a message in blood on the victim's back the NYPD wants me to interpret, like yesterday.

The best novels are those where the narrator and author come together and give you a story worth your time to listen. This is one of them!

Prof Croft is a Wizard and Professor whose two jobs keep him busy with the latter suffering for the late nights and demon chasing. He is under orders from The Order (no pun intended) to pursue and check out any hints of Dark Magic being used. He also has a hope of love with his fellow Prof Caroline, although this is a minor side to the story it plays out perfectly with all the rest.

He really fights evil on his own until he begins to see patterns and increases in the dark magic calls he has to take care of. Also in the mix is an evil vampire who wants him dead, a Prof Snodgrass who wants him fired from his teaching job and the criminal cases mundane assistance of a police detective.

There is truly a lot going on in the story. It really spreads out all the different clues and action along to make this a really great beginning to a series.

I am looking forward to more from Prof Croft.

I wasn't sure about this story at the beginning chapters. But when the character list was added to the story made me want to listen to more.

Holy Hell tells of the dark characters in the Bible and expands on them in a unique and hilarious way. Barabbas and Kate were my favorites. I thought it might end up being a series, however it did end so well there is no need for another chapter.

Erik Johnson is a perfect Lucifer and all the others in this tale.

If you enjoy sometimes dark and quirky humor you will enjoy this story.

Story is about a father (Dillon) who is a rugged go-to type of guy. He is at work in the courthouse when an EMP is deployed over the United States. Dillon knows exactly what is happening when it does and has been stocking and keeping supplies at his home in case of this type of situation.

His only daughter (Cassie) was on an airplane during the attack. After saving a co-worker (Holly) and helping those that he can, he goes to his house and gears up to head out to the site he thinks the plane crashed. Holly understands how far they will be traveling and tries to show Dillon that she can handle the situation. He knows in his heart that his daughter survived, but also knows that without any type of power, electronics, etc., she cannot call him for help and he cannot be sure of her safety until he gets there.

Luckily his daughter has two other survivors (men) with her after the plane crash. One of which is a younger version of her dad, and possibly a love interest to her. Cassie and survivors head out of the swamp to find shelter, food and hopefully a way to get home to her dad.

During this first book of the series, it is mostly about both parties heading towards each other and the difficulties of traveling over a country full of people struggling to stay alive.

I took away one star as the story has some situations which seem glossed over. For instance one part of the story when Dillon and Holly go to his home (which is full of supplies) to pack up, they leave without giving any information or supplies to his neighbor (whom he interacts with in the story and is supposed to be friendly with).

Otherwise I did enjoy the story and look forward to the next book. There is a really bad guy in it that we don't see a lot of in the first book, the preview of the next book sounds like he will be a big part of it.

Kevin Pierce is one of my favorite narrators and did a great job with this. It's always a pleasure to hear his voice.

Mr. Hartness combines action, drama and creative deadly creatures of the night into something you just can't stop listening to. There is so much history in these stories because Quincy has lived a long life and being related to a Master Vampire (who is really a kinda good guy) gives the listener an awesome story line. Add in James Foster doing the narration - instant Hit Stories.
