Celestine North lives a perfect life. She's a model daughter and sister, she's well liked by her classmates and teachers, and she's dating the impossibly charming Art Crevan. But then Celestine encounters a situation in which she makes an instinctive decision. She breaks a rule and now faces life-changing repercussions. She could be imprisoned. She could be branded. This has the making of a great story. I enjoyed the idea of the guild and a society on a puritan witch hunt. the character development was engaging and rich. The fault with this story is that it has been written with the intent of making me buy 3 or twenty more books to see some sort of resolution. I can't stand books which offer no illusion of a resolution and simply prepare for the oncoming series.
