I found the first 2 stories heart warming and easy to listen to both. Narrations were great and characters came alive and were easy to relate too. When the 3rd one started I had trouble getting connected to the story and characters. It just was not for me I guess. was not able to finish that story at all.

Dakota Jones is the second youngest of four children who had a difficult upbringing living with parents who struggle with mental illness. He escaped his family as soon as he could by joining the military. Now, after several tours of duty he has been discharged. He has nowhere to go and no solid plans for the future. Refusing to return home to his parents he arrives in Sullivan's Crossing where his brother Cal and sister Sierra have each experienced the healing power of the place and its people. Dakota will come to terms with his less-than-perfect family and will plant the roots he's never had.

As always Therese Plumber brings every character alive with consistency though out her entire narrative. She is my favorite!

After a political scandal, fledgling lobbyist Dempsey Jo Killebrew is left almost broke, unemployed, and homeless. She reluctantly accepts to refurbish Birdsong, the old family place in Guthrie, Georgia. But, oh, is Dempsey in for a surprise. "Bird Droppings" would more aptly describe the moldering Pepto Bismol - pink dump. There's also a murderously grumpy old lady who has claimed squatter's rights and isn't moving out. Ever.
