I love all of Susanna's books but this is the best so far. The endings are all so good and the history is an added benefit. Without sex narratives, she instills the passion and beauty of love to her characters that seems to be lacking in books with a lot of sex. Although that is ok, it pales to the depth of love and genuine affection between the involved characters. I don't know how she does it, but her books aren't missing a thing and there's always several plot twists at the end. I'm reading all her books several times!

It's August in New York, and the only thing that's hotter than the pavement is Manhattan D.A. Alex Cooper's professional and personal life. Just as she's claiming an especially gratifying victory in a rape case, she gets the call: the body of a young woman has been found in an abandoned building. The brutality of the murder is disturbing enough, but when a second body, beaten and disposed of in exactly same manner, is found off the Belt Parkway, the city's top brass want the killer found fast.

What made the experience of listening to Killer Heat the most enjoyable?

The story involves a serial killer and I loved the inside look at the investigation from the cop's viewpoint. I was interested in the facts & history of serial killers. The characters are great and well developed, as expected.

What other book might you compare Killer Heat to and why?

The other books in the series. I usually learn about worlds I have never experienced from Linda Fairstein's books, which adds a delightful plus to her already fascinating books.

What does Bernadette Dunne bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I enjoyed the story but, with a series this long with the same reader (Barbara Rosenblat) I couldn't get past the characters "voices". Bernadette Dunn would be the reader I would choose for this series if Barbara was no longer available.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Sorry, no good at this.

Any additional comments?

Worth the credit!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Definitely! It's funny and entertaining. I love the characters and the fun of Nick's assembling the crew from quirky and lovable people.

What other book might you compare The Heist to and why?

It's delightfully it's own story, unlike others.

Which character – as performed by Scott Brick – was your favorite?

I love Nick and Kate, the hero & heroine and Jack, Kate's wild soldier father. I think my very favorite is the crazy actor. who gets deeply into his all of his roles.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes.

Any additional comments?

I was curious about Scott Brick reading Janet Evanovich as Loreli King does it so well. Scott does a fabulous job with this series and brings the wild and wacky characters to vivid life.

What did you like best about Ballistic? What did you like least?

I love this series. The hero is fabulous and the plot is good but I have a very hard time following the story. It seems to me that most characters have more than one name, which is confusing as are the details.

What other book might you compare Ballistic to and why?

Jack Reacher books are similar as the hero is a bad-ass.

Which character – as performed by Jay Snyder – was your favorite?

The hero, who has so many names I can't remember them. He is called by his first name, his last name, and two password protected names.

Do you think Ballistic needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

I don't think I'm going to make it to the end. I will try the next book in hopes I can follow the story.

Any additional comments?

I have 5-starred the two previous books and I really like the hero so maybe this is just a fluke or it's just me.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I have recommended this book to many friends and family because it is such a great book. It is a glimpse into mental illness and how people function with the issues it creates.
There is a love story, so tender it brings tears (good ones), and a creepy mystery with a total surprise of an ending.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Paul, the hero. He is damaged but a wonderful person. He is also so strong and determined. He develops well throughout the story and by the end, he's someone I would love to know.

What does Christopher Lane bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Christopher Land brings wonderful characterization and the perfect tone to the story. After listening to him read this book, he became one of my favorite readers. I enjoy every book he reads and I'm sure it's because of his skills as a reader.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes!! I have listened to this book many times and it's always great. The characters are well developed to the point I miss them when I finish the book. I have read all of Daniel Hecht's books. I would love it if he wrote more.

Any additional comments?

This is a fascinating, well-read book. It is well worth the credit and the time!

A seemingly straightforward private case turns out to be much more complicated - and sinister - than Special Agent A. X. L. Pendergast ever could have anticipated. Pendergast, together with his ward, Constance Greene, travels to the quaint seaside village of Exmouth, Massachusetts, to investigate the theft of a priceless wine collection. But inside the wine cellar, they find something considerably more disturbing: a bricked-up niche that once held a crumbling skeleton.

Is the body found in the Ramble the first victim of a deranged psychopath, or are other missing women in years past whose remains have never been found connected to this savage attack? Is this enormous urban park a sanctuary in the middle of the city - or is it a hunting ground for a killer with a twisted mind?

Barbara Rosenblat reading a fun and interesting book

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Hot Zone?

I liked the beginning of the relationship between the hero & heroine

Which character – as performed by Barbara Rosenblat – was your favorite?

I love the strong & sexy male voices Barbara uses and the way one never has to guess who is talking. My favorite character was Cyrus Jones, the hero.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Fun romp through the future? ( Sorry, tag lines aren't my forte')

Any additional comments?

I think it is a shame that this author uses anyone but Barbara Rosenblat to read her books. After listing to a book read by Barbara, the ones she doesn't read aren't as good. The characters aren't as clear - it is just a pale copy of what could be a great read if Barbara read it.

What made the experience of listening to Mystique the most enjoyable?

The characters are so well developed and the narrator is excellent. I have listened to this book at least 30 times and i'm listening to it right now.

What did you like best about this story?

I just love the heroine and hero and the interaction between them. I love the way the hero respects his lady and stands up for her to all.

What about Barbara Rosenblat’s performance did you like?

Everything! I don't think I'd like the book if I read it. It's her characters that make it excellent.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Mostly the dry humor of the dark knight and the way he reacts to the antics of those around him. It isn't a comedy but there are enough humerous responses to keep me coming back.

Any additional comments?

I think of myself as a fairly intelligent person but this book, named Mistique with characters like Hugh the Relentless, the bringer of storms, places like Rivenhall Manor and the fact it is a romance of the highest water has me in it's thrall. So wonderful!!
