This story could have been an excellent short story. The story is retold so many times I finally gave up and quit. The emotional characterizations were unrealistic and unbelievable.

I am a voracious reader but rarely do I read something that moves me as this book did. I can’t really say which of the themes touched me the most; the poignant young love story, life against the elements, survival even with domestic abuse or the responsibility humans have toward one another.
I recommend this book but warn that this book will not be a light read for the beach. This is a read that grasps for your heart and lungs with tentacles that will last long after the last word is read.
