They say love and hate are the same feelings experienced under different circumstances, and it's true. The man who comes to me in my dreams also haunts me in my nightmares. He is a brilliant lawyer. A skilled criminal. A beautiful liar. A bully and a savior, a monster and a lover. Ten years ago, he made me run away from the small town where we lived. Now, he came for me in New York, and he isn't leaving until he takes me with him.

The name's Barrett Callahan. Yeah, that Barrett Callahan - the one the press dubbed "bare", after those naked sexting pictures surfaced. At 25, I was armed with an MBA from Harvard, an executive position at my father's Fortune 500 company, a penthouse, and a different piece of delectable eye candy in my bed every weekend. I had a life most men dreamed of. But then my father decided to run for president, and my playboy lifestyle became a liability to his campaign that was built on family values.

I was enjoying this book until almost at the end. The heroine is an idiot to be frank, which was disappointing because she was holding her own until the last few chapters when the author used her to create non existent conflict. That was when she suddenly decided the hero can't be trusted even though he did nothing to indicate that. It was a stupid premise for conflict that destroyed a potentially good story. Very disspointing and turned out to more aggravating than entertaining.

I enjoyed the story though I'm not a fan of the female narrator' male voice. However, there was something missing. I think the bad guy had a little too much power over them with not enough scare factor to warrant their compliance with his ridiculousness. It's worth a listen but I wouldn't listen to it a second time.

Mirror, mirror, who's the fairest of them all? I still cringe when I hear that line. A fairy tale that had girls pretending they were the fairest, the most beautiful, and the most entitled. A fairy tale most couldn't grow out of turned my haunted childhood memories into a living nightmare. Girls who grew up believing that pile of garbage became the meanest of all mean girls. And those mean girls were right. It was a line meant for all the beautiful people in the world, and I knew the answer would never be me.

I know drama is needed to make a story work but this author tried so hard it became ridiculous. The blatant abuse and bullying was so over the top it weakened the story. One incident after another with no real retaliation and a heroin who was weak and a little stupid. Then there was Davis who just kept getting away with physically harming this girl. This story line could have worked if the plot was a little stronger and the characters a little more developed. Add poor narration to the mix and all you get is fat waste of credit.

I'm Vanessa Barsetti, the daughter of the infamous Crow Barsetti. My father taught me how to fight. If a man lays a hand on me, I'll put him in his grave. As a Barsetti, I'm proud, stubborn, and don't take nonsense from anybody. I walk home from a bar and take the wrong path. And witness a brutal crime. The murderer won't let me go. He's handsome, lethal, and terrifying. With tattoos on his forearms and a presence full of threat, he's a shade of evil I've never encountered. And then he tells me the most terrifying thing of all. His name is Bones.

First, let me say this series starts off okay but left me in a bad mood. First off, I liked the Buttons series and even thought the Muse series was good. HOWEVER, this new addition is a complete rip off. The story is divided into FIVE books when it could have been two or even three books, a TOTAL RIP OFF and completely disrespectful to the readers, shame on you Ms. Sky. The main characters are weak and quite insipid, particularly Vanessa. For someone who is portrayed as strong in book one, I hated her and every single member or her family by the end of the series.

Now, my review. If you liked the Buttons and Muse series, then don't read this series. By the end of it, you will hate every single main character you encountered in the other books. They are hypocritical and completely selfish and their reaction to Vanessa and Bone's relationship is so off the chart it made me sick. Firstly, Every single male character in those other series held the main female character against her will in some form or another. Yet, Crow points a gun at Bones when Bones did the same. What was even more ludicrous was Conway's reaction to Vanessa's grief. He pretty much called her childish and told her to get over herself, yet, by the end of the series, he was telling Conner to do the same sh*t that he was mad at Bones for doing to Vanessa. It made no sense!

Overall, I found this series a COMPLETE disappointment. Most of the books didn't even have anything resembling a real conflict and before Vanessa and Bone's story ended, Conner and Mia's story began, taking up most of the last book. Vanessa and Bone's relation was drawn out with 3 - 5 page long sex scenes every few pages. The relationship went in circles and very little character development took place.

I won't be reading anything from this author again until she stops this greedy madness of forcing her readers to pay for a bunch of novellas when the story should be one or two novels. Don't waste your credit or money.

I must confess that I couldn't finish this one. The blatant errors were just too much. First, a 20 year old who was home-schooled, is working at a strip club as she tries to complete her SECOND masters degree, seriously? No further explanation was given and it was never even implied that she was a genius or anything. Swan estimated Smoke to be 10 years older than she was, then a few chapters later, she said he was in his late 30s. She is a self professed paranoid individual who is trained in self defense and knows how to get out of difficult situations, yet she gets kidnapped. She hates when people touches her and is a virgin as a result, yet she talks about having a boyfriend ... and it goes on and on. All this might be overlooked by some readers but there were just too many holes for me to like this story. So not worth a credit.

Not only was Swan repetitive (she kept talking about her dad and how paranoid he was), but her entire character lacked substance. The first thin
