He wasn't meant to be on my radar; he was definitely the off-limits guy. My brother's best friend, my friend's ex, but most of all he was my boss. Hawk Carnage resembled one thing, and one thing only. Sex. He used it, he knew it, he lived it. Hawk owned the largest lingerie company in the world, and I was his leading lady. In business. But now business and friendship were about to be crossed. The lines blurred, and I was ready to dip my toes in the forbidden water.

The narrators do the story justice. The story is hilarious and well written. One of the most unexpected surprises of the year. Highly recommend this story.

I can’t say enough about one of my favorite authors except that I am never disappointed when I pick up something written by her and it’s even better when narrated by Nicole Poole. I never read Christmas or Holiday stories during “The Season”, basically because I’m usually overwhelmed by everything Holiday related. This story is an exception. It was fantastic to see where some of my favorite characters were at in their personal lives. Since the Mageri series and the Seven series are written on different time lines we get to go back in time. It’s a special time for Logan and Silver as they receive the most precious gift of all and can share the happiness with their family. I laughed and yes, I cried. If you are a fan, there is no way you can overlook this story, it’s a definite MUST HAVE. Invest in Kleenex. They are happy tears, but it could get messy nonetheless.
Dannika Dark & Nicole Poole, Happy Holidays to both of you and thank you for making our holiday bright & better with the release of this beautiful gem.

About 2 years ago I finally decided to listen to another blogger and picked up a Dannika Dark novel. I was awed by her work thunderstruck by the way she took a common paranormal subject like shifters and turned it into a world that was completely unique. I started with the Seven series then went on to devour the Mageri series, falling in love with each character including Simon. Simon is a brilliant character, so carefree and yet so grounded. We find out so much of what has made him the Mage he has become and of course who his maker was. Simon is a strategist he picks up signals that place him at a higher advantage than other Mages. Simon is also a tech specialist which means he’s one hell of a hacker. Simon is also a teacher and he’s a brilliant negotiator. Did I mention Naked Twister? *Laughs*He will need all his skills when he meets Hanna’s Learner, Ella. Ella is special in many ways more than she knows. Ella was a victim of an attack that left her deaf and Hanna thinks her flawed, in a race that values perfection this can be the death of her. Hanna hires Simon to teach her Learner and seems almost desperate for her to have skills that she feels she cannot teach. Hanna can’t bear the thought of having to terminate her learner and has made plans that only an ancient like herself can consider acceptable in this modern world. Hanna also has a secret that can affect her standing with the council; unknown to Hanna her past mistakes will come back to haunt her. Levi was an awesome addition to this story and becomes a big help to Simon, he also is a very caring Chitah who helps Simon deal with emotional luggage from his past. The end leaves Ella on top of the mess and Simon smiling with pride.
Nicole Poole narrates all Dannika Dark novels, which is awesome. I can’t begin to tell you that I greatly dislike when publishers vacillate between narrators. Ms. Poole is fantastic. When she narrates she grasps the personality of each character, becoming them and flawlessly changes between each as needed. Her talent captures the imagination of the reader and listener drawing them into the story. I could never be happier than turning on a story narrated by her, I turn myself over in complete trust that I will be experiencing an awesome ride. The combination of a story penned by Dark & narrated by Poole is a win win in my book!

The Prisoner of Zenda

The Prisoner of Zenda is the story of an Englishman who travels to the small European state of Ruritania where he impersonates the ruler and falls in love with Princess Flavia.
There is more to the description above than what the above explains. So this young Prince is going to get crowned, what does he do? He goes out and parties the night before. I mean really who wouldn’t ? What happens? Well long story short he drank too much and was Ruffied ! The rest of the party goers can’t wake him up as it happens; one of them happens to look a lot like him. So, Rodolf is pushed into taking the Prince’s place and gets crowned King. Simple? NOPE! The uncrowned Prince has a crush on his cousin Princess Flavia and she is crushing hard on the imposter, Rodolf thinking he is the King. What makes this even more complicated is that they thought the Prince was safely tucked away sleeping off his ruffie. Nope, he’s been kidnapped and hauled to Zenda! Now its up to the imposter to not only rescue the Ruffied Prince…now King and continue to impersonate him in the process. Flavia & Rudolf fall in love an unexpected result of spending much time together, since it is expected for them to marry. Rudolf is a smart man, everything works out and Flavia who finally discovers who he really is declares her love for him even though she must marry the newly rescued King. Sadly it ends, with them parting ways, Flavia to her Royal life and duties and Rudolf to a solitary life.
I read this High school, not for class. It was a movie I saw one bored Saturday afternoon when we didn’t have cable, so I checked out of the library. I was more impressed with the movie than the book at the time. Well, years have past, maturity changing my opinion. I was challenged by a dear friend to re-read this story and give it a second chance. I reluctantly did so and quickly found myself in Ruritania. James Wilby has the perfect English accent and does a great deal of aerobics changing voices , carrying the audience with him through horseback rides, battles and plain running for our lives. Whenever a narrator can insert the audience into the action, he/she is doing an outstanding job. Not boring at all.

This is a fun story to read or listen too. It is very well written and narrated. The voice, Laura Princiotta does a great job. Her voice is the right age for the main character and she does wonderful voicing the other characters, even the one with the tough guy attitudes. She voices the story well enough for me to close my eyes and see it playing out before me.
The story is a unique romantic comedy that is guaranteed to leave you in stitches. I solved some of the mystery before it started to unravel, but I grew up reading mysteries and watching tough guy shows. I was wrong to suspect Frankie at the beginning, he after all is in love with Lucie and a man in love does do stupid things. So I’m giving a little away here, but ladies I have to tell you, he an upright citizen. The dog - nappings and almost nappings are hilarious and I have a soft spot for Lucie’s brother who ends up bruised and battered in the process of supplying us with humor. The story delves into the past where secrets are always well hidden and the key to solving the present situation is close and personal to Lucie.

How to Marry a Duke

Author: Vicky Dreiling Narrator: Elizabeth Jasicki

File Size: 530 KB Print Length: 436 pages Audio Length: 12 hrs 48min
Publisher: Forever; (January 1, 2011) Recorded Books
Tristan, the Duke of Shelbourne is a man with a mission: find a wife he can tolerate as long as they both shall live. Love is not necessary--nor desired. But how to choose among a dizzying array of wealthy-yet-witless candidates? Hire London's infamously prim and proper matchmaker. Then pretend she's not the most captivating woman he's ever met...

Helping a devilish Duke create a contest to pick his perfect mate is the kind of challenge Tessa Mansfield relishes. Her methods may be scandalous, but she's determined to find the notorious bachelor more than a wife--she'll bring him true love. Yet when Tessa watches the women vie for the Duke's affections, she longs to win his heart herself. And after a stolen kiss confirms Tristan's desire, Tessa knows she has broken a matchmaker's number one rule: never fall in love with the groom.
This is not my typical read. I usually avoid these types of books because they have the tendency to be very flowery and although they may be realistic to the times they aren’t very real to me. To my surprise I found this book for sale on audible and said…how bad it can be. Usually when I say this to myself I find myself very surprised and very much enjoying the story, this was not an exception. I enjoyed the story and laughed through all humorous parts and sighed through all the romantic ones. Typical also is the lack of SEX. I like sex, enjoy it very much, my three kids are proof and they still shout a resounding “Ewww” every time my husband takes two steps towards me. Anyway, Sex in these types of books can be very tricky; the author can end up making readers wanting much more or make the heroine look slutty for the times. Although, there were heated moments, the story did fall prey to the times it was written in and there is a lack of sex but the sexual tension between The Duke & Tessa is there in Spades. I love the characters. Tessa is not the typical swooning chit, for the times she is very smart, worldly and independent. The Duke, well I did want to shake him a few times, but he comes through in the end and turns out to be the perfect counterpart for Tessa.
Elizabeth Jasicki does an excellent job as narrator. Her accent is not forced and is not only British in nature but fits the aristocratic tones of the characters and the times. I hope she narrates the books that follow; she made it very enjoyable for me.
This story should serve as an example that we should never stick to the typical even when we read. We might miss something we will find remarkably enjoyable even though its not our typical taste.

I have enjoyed reading & listening to this book. Opening the book I submerge myself instantly into Trevor & Cassie’s world. New to marriage they are still feeling their way around. Their love easily evident in that they will do anything for each other, including crossing lines that may put their lives in danger. They follow a trail that leads them to the doors of the ruthless Russian mafia. Stephan and Jessica reignite their unrequited passions, initially ignited and abandoned with one passionate kiss in Countermeasures. What is there not to love in this book!!!! There is passion, intrigue, adventure from the very beginning. I must say that it had the perfect combination of the three and for the tech geeks…there is plenty to love also. I felt as if I was watching a movie as it all played out in my head. Jason Bourne, look out…here comes Trevor! Chris and Cecilia are raising the bar for authors like Robert Ludlum. I am hoping for a movie deal and great actors to play out the roles.
Surprising treat for me was Stephan. He seems so well put together and controlled, the perfect business man and gentleman. What lies beneath that surface is wild heated passion that would drive any woman insane with need. I was torn between the couples, feeling very much like a voyeur, flipping channels between couples. Stephan places older men back in the market…making it harder for the younger ones to compete! This is a must read, five stars aren’t enough to rate this book.
Audio review:
I just finished the audio version to this amazing story, and it held true to the written, word by word. I loved Tim Reynolds as the narrator, he truly has a grasp of Trevor, and is growing well into voicing the other characters as well. He was a great pick for the series. If you like the written version of the series you are sure to LOVE the audio.
