The Story
We all know the story of Ariel in The Little Mermaid. I had preconceived notions about Vanessa going in. But as her story unfolded, I couldn't help but trumpet her cause. In a way only Rourke can she weaves and turns the tide so that the villain is the one you find yourself championing behind. I will never look at The Little Mermaid the same way.

The Narration
I was blown away by Tiffany Marz's performance. I say performance because she didn't simply read the story and add creative accents. Marz made this an Oscar-worthy performance! She brought the entire cast and story to life and enhanced it with her beautiful narration and sound effects. Bravo Tiffany Marz.

The Hunted is my first look at author Jessica Gunn. Gunn did a fantastic job at world building and character development. The Hunted is fast-paced, non-stop action from page one. The MC, Krystin, is a total badass! I like that the author included two POVs so that I got into Ben's head as well. With him being such a huge part of the storyline this was needed. The tension and drama of the story are palpable and kept me on the edge of my seat. The ending left me wanting more!

The narrator,Shannon Condon, did a great job of bringing the story to life and sucking me into the world.

Cozy mysteries are quickly becoming my go to read or listen when I am in the mood for a light mystery. Tara Meyers' You Can Lead a Horse to Murder is a laugh out loud mystery. While it sounds like a contradiction, it's accurate. Let me explain. There is a murder in the small quiet town of Sanctuary hence the mystery aspect. But between the high jinks of a labradoodle and MC Ember's quick tongue and sass, the seriousness of the book is lightened and actually works quite well together. This audiobook is the first of Tara Meyers' work that I have had the pleasure of listening to but she is definitely going on my TBR list. Tara creates a beautiful small town setting with endearing characters in her Secrets of Sanctuary series.

Cris Dukehart is fantastic as the narrator bringing the story to life through my speakers. She nails Ember's personality in her delivery.

Eric Asher is phenomenal! The Vesik Series is spectacular! I steamrolled through the first 3 books in the series. The collection has it all; action, suspense, carnage, strategic battles, and even a smidge of romance. The MC, Damian Vesik, is a snarky badass necromancer. I love any dialogue that he is a part of.

The narrator, William Dufris, was perfect. He brought this story leaping through my speakers. I vividly saw the story like a motion picture.

I love the series and narrator so much that I just snagged books 4-6. The series is addictive. I feel like I know the characters and am right there in the fray with them.

Top 10 favorite mystery audiobooks. I am hooked. Angie is smart, sexy, witty, and sassy. I strive to be her when I am in my 50's.

The Story
How do you solve the murder of the most hated/loved woman in town? Victoria had just as many haters as she had admirers and everyone is suspect in her death. The woman is despicable and truly had no redeeming qualities.

Borderline is filled with plot twists, action, murder, and much, much more. It gave off a Cagney & Lacey vibe. Totally dating myself here, but I remember watching the show when i was young with my Grandmother.

The character are complex, multi dimensional, and all have issues in some form or another. This just adds to the plot of the story. A surprise "who done it" in the end.

The Narrator
Honestly, at first I had trouble getting immersed into the story, but as the plot progressed I found myself lost in the story and enjoying the narrator. I really connected with Detective Barbara. Her life hasn't been a cake walk and I felt her plight. i was really hoping for her to get a HEA.

Overall
If you enjoy a suspenseful drama with twist and action this is definitely the story for you. I look forward to checking out additional work by both the author and the narrator.

I L-O-V-E the Detective Kay Hunter series from Rachal Amphlett! Each one is a bloody brilliant, edge of your seat, white knuckle read. I have to say Gone to Ground was far more sinister than previous Kay Hunter stories but that just made me relish it more. Filled with twists and turns I am in shock at “who done it.” As always Amphlett delivers a well-executed police drama.

One of my favorite aspects of Amphlett’s stories is finding out what animal Adam (Kay’s SO) has brought home. As a vet he treats a wide variety of animals. To my utter delight, Adam brought home a goat to board until its permanent home was available. This adds levity to break up the serious tone of the book.

As with the previous books in the series, I listened to the audiobook version. The narrator, Alison Campbell, is fantastic. I will have her narrating my life in my head for next few days, lol. She does a smashing job of bringing the characters to life and has the story leaping from the pages. Campbell delivers all the emotions, twist and turns and leaves me on the edge of my seat with anticipation.
