Good content but poor narration. If only the narrator could speak English properly and say “et cetera!” I cringed every time I heard is pronounced “eck cetera.” Then I returned the book.

Long winded and rambling account of the author’s attempts to become more authentic. Some of his ideas were good, such as writing a personal bill of rights. I cringed every time he told stories about his children. If he values his relationship with his children, he will protect their privacy, not exploit them for professional gain.

And how can runners harness that power to create a more meaningful life? The Inner Runner addresses these questions and a whole lot more. This book is not about how to get faster or run a marathon; rather, it explores how the simple act of putting one foot in front of the other helps you harness your creative powers.

Eve has a problem with clutter. Too much stuff and too easily acquired, it confronts her in every corner and on every surface in her house. When she pledges to tackle the worst offender, her horror of a "hell room", she anticipates finally being able to throw away all of the unnecessary things she can't bring herself to part with: her fifth-grade report card, dried-up art supplies, an old vinyl raincoat. But what Eve discovers isn't just old CDs and outdated clothing, but a fierce desire within herself to hold on to her identity.

I got this while dealing with a horrible manager at work who played a lot of power games. I wanted to have more knowledge about power in order to cope. The book describes many dirty dealings throughout history. The narrative wanders throughout time and place, giving numerous anecdotes of humanity’s rottenness. It was useful to gain understanding about what goes on in the minds of the powerful and abusive. The book was well-narrated. However, it was so depressing that I couldn’t finish it.

I enjoyed the book and learned a lot, although the focus is on the author’s personal story. However, the narrator’s vocabulary is lacking. She can’t pronounce the unusual words that are related to mythology and esoteric studies. At least someone told her that “tarot” doesn’t rhyme with “carrot” - that was a problem in the first book. I am hungry for astrological information, and there was worthwhile content here, but be prepared to cringe at the narrator’s mangling of the English language.
