Stephen King returns to the characters and territory of one of his most popular novels ever, The Shining, in this instantly riveting novel about the now middle-aged Dan Torrance (the boy protagonist of The Shining) and the very special 12-year-old girl he must save from a tribe of murderous paranormals. This is an epic war between good and evil, a gory, glorious story that will thrill the millions of hyper-devoted fans of The Shining and wildly satisfy anyone new to the territory of this icon in the King canon.

I absolutely LOVED this book! Although I did enjoy The Shining, I found this book much more enjoyable to read/listen to. The story kept me in a daily trans until the very end! I was spellbound and sucked in from the beginning. I highly recommend this book to anyone who's read The Shining or not. It explains so much and answered all my unanswered questions from the book.

Jack Torrance's new job at the Overlook Hotel is the perfect chance for a fresh start. As the off-season caretaker at the atmospheric old hotel, he'll have plenty of time to spend reconnecting with his family and working on his writing. But as the harsh winter weather sets in, the idyllic location feels ever more remote...and more sinister. And the only one to notice the strange and terrible forces gathering around the Overlook is Danny Torrance, a uniquely gifted five-year-old.

This book was exactly what I thought it would be & had remembered from the movie. It's a bit wordy and gets off to a slow start but once you begin in sucks you in! I loved the peaks and falls in the book. The narrator was a bit quiet for my liking (not sure if this was an issue on my end) but I needed the volume on max to hear. But besides that I enjoyed every minute of my listen!

I could not stop listening to this story! Excellently written and read! I loved how this story brought me back into time and right back to the future within minutes. The macabre details of the past bring on a layer of guilt, and sadness I didn't expect to feel after listening to this story. I highly recommend this book to anyone, any age, any gender, any religion.

One of my favorite audible books to date! This very interesting story of a young woman's journey from illness, to madness to recovery and back is so fascinating. I could hardly resist the urge to jump to the end just to hear the final outcome of this poor girls fate. I certainly learned a lot from this book and I can only hope that it helps and saves lives from its sources. This book not only went into full detail about the month of hell this young woman went through but very carefully sorts and explains all the details in between. This audible is a MUST listen!!!!

The narration is perfect but the story is disappointing in comparison to the movie. I would still recommend this audible book to anyone who likes a good love story.
