"It is good thing war is horrible, or we may grow to like it."

Robert E. Lee

As binged listened this book, this was the quote that my mind kept going to. I have not read a book that touched on the emotions and craziness of war and the soldiers who fought it since The Forever War. The characters were deep, the story had some great quips on our social media society of today and made me think of what really defines a person's life.

The book was a free offer from the author. It exceeded all my expectations. I thank Mr. Platt for this gift. I also want to give kudos to Natalie Duke the narrator. I adore a great reader whose voice gives every character a life of their own, even tiny supporting characters. Your talent is right up their with Christian Traster who reads the Harmony Black books. Thank you for giving Mr. Platt's story the voice it deserved.

If you have an Audible credit, get this book.

Framed for a casino massacre, Harmony and Jessie are on the run - in the real world and in their own. From the seedy casinos of Atlantic City to the steamy bayous of Louisiana and the imposing facades of Washington, DC, there's not a soul on earth they can trust. The only way they can clear their names is to take down the conspiracy from within and uncover the truth behind a secret that both the government and the powers of hell want to keep buried.

The Harmony Black books mirror the Daniel Faust series so well. Cold Spectrum was another addition and the audio performance was outstanding. I look forward to the next book. Between the two series Craig Schaefer has become the Jeffrey Deaver of the supernatural genre.

Our universe is ruled by physics, and faster-than-light travel is not possible - until the discovery of The Flow, an extradimensional field we can access at certain points in space-time that transports us to other worlds, around other stars. Humanity flows away from Earth, into space, and in time forgets our home world and creates a new empire, the Interdependency, whose ethos requires that no one human outpost can survive without the others. It's a hedge against interstellar war - and a system of control for the rulers of the empire.

A great purchase and listen. Another complex story from Scalzi in the vein of Old Man's War with characters and moments that you want to read and listen to again. Wil Wheaton's great narration gave the story even more depth and was full of LOL moments( his Lady Keva moments were outstanding). I hate where it ended, but look forward to the next part soon.

With a crime scene this puzzling, forensic expertise of the highest order is absolutely essential. Lincoln Rhyme and Amelia Sachs are called in to investigate. Soon the case takes a stranger turn: a recording surfaces of the victim being slowly hanged, his desperate gasps the backdrop to an eerie piece of music. The video is marked as the work of The Composer....
