Normally after listening to two books by the same author I get bored with their style. Not so with the Matthew Corbett series written by Robert McCammon and narrated by Edoardo Ballerini. The combination makes for exciting listening and great entertainment. This book continues Matthew's adventures while you watch him grow and mature as the series continues. Can't wait to go directly to book 4 of the series. Hope there are more to come.

I like mysteries and this didn't disappoint. The protagonist is smart and observant much like Sherlock Holmes but from a more humble background. Edoardo Ballerini was the perfect choice for narrator and was so good I immediately began a search for more of his recordings. I am now listening to the third book by this pair and it is ever bit as enjoyable.

This book pulls at your heart strings, makes you laugh through your tears and relates a powerful story of resilience. It is all the more moving because the narrator is the author. You can almost feel the never-ending hunger of the kids as they make do with scraps of bread and tea. The book reveals a level of poverty not often written about but related in a unique way from a kid's point of view.

This a a great book with a lot of new details you may not have heard about Genghis Khan and his family. I was not very familiar with the history of the Mongols but after listening to this book I was in awe of their accomplishments both on and off the battlefield. While their fighting prowess was the stuff of legends, their governing of conquered countries and encouragement of trade was pretty astonishing. If you like history in this time period, this is a must listen.

This was an interesting book that helped explain a time period which is often overlooked in American History. It helped me gain respect for the early Forest Rangers who believed in the preservation of our natural resources and worked against tall odds, often with little or no pay, to protect our beautiful national parks and forests.

This is my second book by Lee Child with the Jack Reacher character. I am happily on my way to #3 and beyond. I like the way the stories are put together, I love the way the author thinks and makes his characters behave. I like Jack Reacher because, while he is very efficient at what he does best, he also makes a couple of mistakes here and there to prove he is human. He is not indestructible but he is very good.
