Darrow is a Red, a member of the lowest caste in the color-coded society of the future. Like his fellow Reds, he works all day, believing that he and his people are making the surface of Mars livable for future generations. Yet he spends his life willingly, knowing that his blood and sweat will one day result in a better world for his children. But Darrow and his kind have been betrayed. Soon he discovers that humanity reached the surface generations ago. Vast cities and sprawling parks spread across the planet.

perhaps the first chapter is a relatively slow compared to the rest of the book. however it is story that will capture you. the plot is not easily predictable and every twist is perfect. TGR of course delivers a solid performance that I doubt any other could equal.

The 200 years' (and counting) peace was a time of tranquility that hasn't been seen since...well, ever. Mankind in the Galactic Age had finally conquered war, so what was left for the military to do but drink and barbecue? That's the kind of military that Sergeant R. Wilson Rogers lived in before he left the fleet to become a smuggler. But it turns out that smuggling is hard. Like getting-arrested-for-dealing-with-pirates-and-forced-back-into-service kind of hard.

The series had me looked in from the first book. many parts of the series had me guessing what was gonna happen next. Sure some parts had predictable paths for the characters however many other paths were unexpected. I felt the last book wrapped up quickly versus the pace of the story, which seemed to have been written with for 4 books or more (not a bad thing). In short it's a great series and is narrated by one of the best. I enjoyed from beginning to end and listened to the whole series in about 2 weeks. usually I spread a series out a bit however I eagerly wanted to know what was next.

I never felt a deja vu moment. good listen and well narrated as usual by RC Bray.

The White Lich has conquered Tanar Atain. Soon, he means to take the entire world. Dante suspects his next target will be Bressel, where the Tanarians have established their court in exile. The only chance to stop the lich will be to forge a fragile alliance between the bitter enemies of three different lands: Tanar Atain, Mallon, and Narashtovik. The city stands on the brink of rebellion. Yet even if Dante, Blays, and Gladdic can unite it, they still might not have the strength to stand against the army of the lich.
