Over thirty years ago, a group of five Englishmen and one wayward American re-wrote the rules of comedy. Monty Python's Flying Circus, an unheralded collection of sketches, hilarities, inanities and animations first appeared on the BBC late one night in 1969. Its impact on the world has been felt ever since.

Entrepreneur Jesse Itzler will try almost anything. He brazenly pretended to be an established hip-hop artist to secure a meeting with a studio head - and it led to a record deal. He convinced a bunch successful business executives to invest in an unprecedented business plan - and it turned into Marquis Jet. He sincerely offered to run a 100-mile race in Spanx to get the attention of the beautiful founder of the company - and ended up marrying her.

Stephen R. Covey's book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, has been a top seller for the simple reason that it ignores trends and pop psychology for proven principles of fairness, integrity, honesty, and human dignity. Celebrating its 15th year of helping people solve personal and professional problems, this special anniversary edition includes a new foreword and afterword written by Covey that explore whether the 7 Habits are still relevant and answer some of the most common questions he has received over the past 15 years.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Probably not possible.

What could Stephen R. Covey have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Dispenses religious opinion/personal belief. That's fine, but I'm not interested in that, and not the reason why I bought the book. So many anecdotes, you forget what the original goal of the chapter is. Clear as mud.

How could the performance have been better?

Projection.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment.

Among Americans, diabetes is more prevalent today than ever. Obesity is at epidemic proportions; nearly 10% of children are thought to have nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. And sugar is at the root of these, and other, critical, society-wide, health-related problems. With his signature command of both science and straight talk, Gary Taubes delves into Americans' history with sugar: its uses as a preservative, as an additive in cigarettes, the contemporary overuse of high-fructose corn syrup.

Massengale, however, brilliantly advances his career by making the right connections behind the lines and in Washington’s corridors of power.

If you could sum up Once an Eagle in three words, what would they be?

History comes alive.

Any additional comments?

The authors research and knowledge of events and strategies, as well as his exploration of the psyche of battle and its effects on the humans involved, intimately and remotely, make this a most compelling read. The audio as read by the excellent Grover Gardner completes a very satisfying experience. Highly recommended.
