A silly social commentary very much in line with Hitchhiker's Guide. Martin Freeman gives an excellent performance.

A century after it first appeared, Crime and Punishment remains one of the most gripping psychological thrillers. A poverty-stricken young man, seeing his family making sacrifices for him, is faced with an opportunity to solve his financial problems with one simple but horrifying act: the murder of a pawnbroker. She is, he feels, just a parasite on society. But does the end justify the means? Rodion Romanovitch Raskolnikov makes his decision and then has to live with it.

It's a crime this book is still being taught. My punishment was reading this horrible piece of old garbage. I'll never make people read books simply because it has been taught in traditional literature courses.

Gideon Emery's performance is perfection. His character voices are varied, and his pacing is moderate. It's like having Fenris read a bedtime story to Hawke. But, Varric would have written a much more interesting story.

I thought I was getting a romance novel by the "great" Danielle Steele. The writing is repetitive and there isn't any sex!!! NONE! The love interest doesn't even show up until the last 1/10th of the book. The character of the Duchess is a feminist. That's about the only good thing I have to say about it. Reminiscent of Downton Abbey, with less interesting characters.
