I wasn't sure what to expect from this magical book, but I was at my wit's end, trying to get a handle on my anger over small things that children naturally do... I felt worse about yelling at them for an accident then I ever did about anything they actually did, yet I couldn't stop myself from bubbling over with each mistake, act of independence that was inconvenient for me, etc.

Then this book came along, and listening to it was like a breath of fresh air. It's been almost a year since I read it, and I could count on one hand the number of times I've lost my temper in that time, and each time, I quickly diffused it and handled things well because of the inspiration in this book. Children are a blessing, not a burden, and we make a choice to have them, so they deserve gentle parents who love them and see them as they gifts they are.

You will find daily inspiration in this book, and may want to listen to it again and again like I do. Different topics are handled each day, and I was convicted over and over again.

Love N V Peale, but this wasn't a good audiobook

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

This was simply very short snippets from some of his lectures, short portions that didn't really teach anything, and the last one (there were four altogether, about 20 minutes or so each of him sharing an anecdote in each) was actually cut off as he was about to start reading a letter he was talking up and leading up to. What was the point of even leaving his discussion of the letter in the audiophile only to abruptly end it? There was no point to what was shared at all, there was no resolution. Terrible editing, and left very little substance overall.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Achieving Personal Success?

I would have cut them all and chosen different scenes altogether.

Any additional comments?

I'm a HUGE fan of NVP, he is inspiring and has a great voice for sermons, and he's funny. Whomever edited this did him a disservice. I'm surprised at all the great reviews (I wonder if they are just being loyal because they love him as much as I do) but this stunk. Better to have put one single sermon in its entirety rather than butchered up a few that didn't really work together and started and ended and clumsy points.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I love this audiobook...I listened to it three times already and each time realized I learned something new I somehow missed the first time. It's chock full of great information to help you choose the best plan to prepare to retire with dignity, and maybe even great wealth, and more importantly, it's *inspiring*. By the time you are halfway through, you want to take action.

I learned a lot of tips as well (such as information about Social Security and certain retirement plans) that I thought I understood, but apparently not as well as I thought. I disagree with the reviewer who said if you read Dave Ramsey's TMO, it's the same... it's NOT. At all. This is specifically about preparing for retirement and while a few short areas may be similar (because in order to retire with dignity, you do need to get out of debt, for example) the large bulk of the audiobook is specifically focused on a plan to retire well and have a great life.

What did you like best about this story?

The anecdotes, the information, the inspiration- loved it all.

Have you listened to any of Chris Hogan’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No

What about Kiersten Kingsley’s performance did you like?

The reader was terrific.

Any additional comments?

This is based on a 30 day mission book, and is listed as unabridged. I noticed days were skipped, and at the end I was thanked for listening and they hoped I enjoyed listening to selected passages.

It's a great book, and very short, so I'm not sure why it would be abridged (or why it's not listed as abridged). I would love to give it 5 stars across the board.

What made the experience of listening to Pride and Prejudice the most enjoyable?

This may be one of the most amazing books ever, and Rosamund Pike brings it to life with utter perfection. She spoke the various parts in a way that made me see the characters, both male and female... amazing!

What did you like best about this story?

The story is a masterpiece, everything about it is a classic.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It's a book I want to listen to again and again.

Any additional comments?

Rosamund Pike was an inspired choice to narrate, and I hope she will narrate more Jane Austen novels. I will buy them all if she does.

If you could sum up First, Kill All the Marriage Counselors in three words, what would they be?

Great advice here for women who are too focused on looking outside for solutions to marital problems that may better be solved by changing a few things about themselves (that are actually fun to do).

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

A lot of the book is very funny, and the author reads it in a way that makes you feel like you are chatting with a girlfriend over coffee.

Would you consider the audio edition of I Didn't Come Here to Make Friends to be better than the print version?

I read the book and really enjoyed it, and was looking for some fun audio books for when I take my walks. I remembered loving this one so it was a top pick, and the audio version is terrific.

What other book might you compare I Didn't Come Here to Make Friends to and why?

I'd compare it to books by Mindy Kaling- just so funny!

Any additional comments?

Appreciate that the author is also the narrator- it adds a lot hearing her own voice share the story.
