I’ve liked every Drew Hayes book I’ve listened to, although this one is my favorite so far. I love the idea of “The Narrative” as a cosmic force. The portrayal of the three main characters is outstanding. I just hope book 2 comes before too long

Spending his days in the Wilderness, he’s venting his remaining frustration while staying away from the city drama and those griefers, like the Rogami Clan, who had made his in-game experience so challenging thus far. He has even taken up a trade skill. But when he’s presented with an offer he can’t refuse and accepts a simple mission to deliver a message to Kano Castle, he quickly finds his troubles are only just beginning.

I like how they made the mystery solvable but not obvious, and I really like the the growth of Seki as a character. Only complaint is that there isnt a third book yet but that’s just me being impatient.

I love this book because it doesn’t give the main character some arbitrary ability that no one else can have. Also the author made it feel like an actual video game and made it so the character although inexperienced was not irritating. I just wish the reader would have read through health values a bit faster.

Gabriel Delling might call himself a professional con artist, but when walking superstitions start trying to bite his face off, his charm is shockingly unhelpful. It turns out living nightmares almost never appreciate a good joke. Together with a succubus who insists on constantly saving his life, Gabe desperately tries to survive a new reality that suddenly features demons, legends, and a giant locust named Dale - all of whom pretty much hate his guts. And when an ancient horror comes hunting for a spirit locked in his head, Gabe finds himself faced with the excruciating choice between death...or becoming some kind of freaking hero.

I really like that the author read the book cause then I know that all the characters sound as close to intended as possible. I also really like the idea of a fluid lore for the umbra depending on legend. I would recommend this to anyone who loves the Dresden files.

Knowledge is power. That would be the motto of Lander University, had it not been snatched up and used to death by others long before the school was founded. For while Lander offers a full range of courses to nearly all students, it also offers a small number of specialty classes to a very select few. Lander is home to the Hero Certification Program, a curriculum designed to develop students with superhuman capabilities, commonly known as Supers, into official Heroes.
