In a village in ancient Norway lives a boy named Odd, and he's had some very bad luck: His father perished in a Viking expedition; a tree fell on and shattered his leg; the endless freezing winter is making villagers dangerously grumpy. Out in the forest Odd encounters a bear, a fox, and an eagle - three creatures with a strange story to tell. Now Odd is forced on a stranger journey than he had imagined, a journey to save Asgard, city of the gods, from the Frost Giants who have invaded it.

While we were listening on the drive to and from karate and soccer the kids would ask to stay in the car a little longer to keep listening. My oldest was disappointed at the end that we could not go and get the next one in the series (like say Harry potter). One warning in the beginning the father drowns which the details might be upsetting for my four year old so I fast forwarded a tad-and it didn't detract from the story not knowing how he died- and he is used to parents being dead as the set up for almost all children's books, and the orphan set up,

Louis Charles ("Lucy") Lynch has spent all his 60 years in upstate Thomaston, New York, married to the same woman, Sarah, for 40 of them, their son now a grown man. Like his late, beloved father, Lucy is an optimist, though he's had plenty of reasons not to be: chief among them his mother, still indomitably alive.

3. Empire Falls

but now Bridge of Sighs takes the lead. It took me about 3 chapters to really get into the groove of it. But by the end I was sad to leave. Fantastic character development and the story was breathtaking. His best work so far.

This is a slow moving dharma talk with lots of space to experience the void between words. I found myself soaking it in. There is a lot of wisdom within. It isn't like a lots of recent Buddhist marketed self help type audios that are sort of a hyped sales pitch for whatever method is new. It's like an old school teacher talking to his students. I found it very refreshing and I learned a lot. Felt like a zen retreat.

In this accessible new work, Ricard provides a straightforward assessment of how to create true and lasting happiness.

If you are going to only get one Bob Thurman download do the "Jewel Tree of Tibet" this on he rambles on a bit more and it's more one of his lectures then truly a book about the Tibetan Book of the Dead. But personally I like his quirky style, funny political commentary, and his version of Buddhism. It makes really lofty intellectual material accessible and interesting. I have listened to it at least 4-5 times already.
