In a steel-and-lead-encased bunker 20 feet below the basement level of his house, a soldier waits for his final orders. On the surface, a plague ravages the planet, infecting over 90% of the populace. The bacterium burrows through the brain, destroying all signs of humanity and leaving behind little more than base, prehistoric instincts. The infected turn into hyper-aggressive predators, with an insatiable desire to kill and feed. Someday soon, the soldier will have to open the hatch to his bunker, and step out into this new wasteland, to complete his mission....

Not Just Another Zombie Book
What did you love best about The Remaining?
The story of a living hell based in the first week of the lead characters life in this new world... just a great story line. on book 3 now. not going to stop until i reach book 5.
What did you like best about this story?
its not your same "dumb/slow" zombie book
Which character – as performed by Christian Rummel – was your favorite?
This is a first person shooter of a book... and Christian Rummel is looking thru the eyes of the lead for the entire book. Christian does a bad ass job getting across his characters voice and emotion... He has a husky whiskey and smoke cured voice, and it works for the tone of this book. However, there are only three "characters voices" that he (the lead) hears no matter the character... man, woman, and child (adult male voice, child voice, female voice). It would sometimes just get confusing if you were not paying 90% attention.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
yup... and I did it too.
