I loved that this audio book was over 50 hours - you really get your credit's worth with this. The story was great, you never quite new what was going to happen next. I was disappointing to find out that the rest of the Asian Saga was not a direct continuation of this story. The author wraps things up, but given how long the build up was the ending seemed rushed. I want to hear the story of what happened next!

The narrator did well, but it took several hours of listening before I could tell which male characters were which - the voice he uses for Japanese men all sound very similar with a few exceptions.

Great book, great purchase. Would recommend.

Kandri Hinjuman was never meant to be a soldier. His brother Mektu was never meant for this world. Rivals since childhood, they are drafted into a horrific war led by a madwoman-Prophet, and survive each day only by hiding their disbelief. Kandri is good at blending in, but Mektu is hopeless: impulsive, erratic - and certain that a demon is stalking him. Is this madness or a second sense? Either way, Kandri knows that Mektu's antics will land them both in early graves. But all bets are off when the brothers' simmering feud explodes into violence, and holy blood is spilled.

it was hard to get there. I almost quit this book several times. I didn't enjoy the language or the conversation of the character. I felt annoyed by the characters most of the time. By the end of the book, though, I was finally invested in the story.

Soon he discovers that humanity reached the surface generations ago. Vast cities and sprawling parks spread across the planet.

This is the best and most immersive book I've read/listened to in years - I've been listening to at least one audible book per month for the past 3 years, and this is hands down the best one yet. I can't wait to continue the series, and this will be a book I return to again and again.
