This novel has, without a doubt, been my favorite of Gregory’s Tudor/Plantagenet series. I have just one left to read (the Amy Dudley story). I’m sad to be coming to the end of these breathtaking novels, but so elated a story of a commoner slipping between three worlds was part of the journey. Hannah’s diplomacy, her faith, her spirit, and her unassuming truth have left me feeling more connected to the past than any story from the point of view of royalty ever could. Hannah, in all her foolish honesty, is the most relatable heroine of all of Gregory’s novels I’ve had the pleasure to consume. Do yourself a favor, take a listen.

I absolutely loved this book. The storyline was catchy, regardless of if you read Oliver Twist. If you did read Twist, this is a great opportunity to check in on Oliver’s life, 12 years later.

The narration of this book leaves A LOT to be desired, but the content and message is worth powering through. I’ve read some reviews that felt the author ‘talks down’ to the reader, but I didn’t feel that way at all. Granted, I’m not a medical professional and perhaps if I was I would feel like this book was dumbed down a bit. However, for the layman just trying to make sense of their health, this book takes a simplified approach. I look forward to seeing results as I progress through the PP program.

The narrator was dull, lifeless, and awkward. His timing was terrible (Think bad William Shatner impersonation). He did horrible ‘voices’ for the characters. And he mispronounced, on a consistent and regular basis, numerous key literary terms as well as the name of the town Anne grew up in. It was very difficult to listen to.

As a freckled redheaded girl, I identified with Anne Shirley growing up. Megan Follows will always be Anne to me, but I thoroughly enjoyed Rachel McAdams’ performance. Being in my 40s now, I was immediately transported back to my childhood and simpler times. As Anne might say, this book was so romantic.

Jen Sincero holds no punches in this self help book written by someone who has read all the hokum and weeded through it successfully. You have two choices: 1. Read Jen’s book and get on the road to becoming a baddass. 2. Read all the other crap out there, weed through it, figure out what works and what doesn’t, and then maybe get started figuring out how to become a baddass. Jen has already done all the work for you!
