For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand. Then the time comes when she yearns to be touched and loved. When two young men from town become intrigued by her wild beauty, Kya opens herself to a new life - until the unthinkable happens.

The details were woven in with just the right amount to make this book come alive. The writing and the narration made it seem like I was there on the beach, an on looker. The pain, the heartbreak, the triumph. A truly amazing, and unforgettable story.

Reese Witherspoon’s grandmother Dorothea always said a combination of beauty and strength made Southern women “whiskey in a teacup”. We may be delicate and ornamental on the outside, she said, but inside, we’re strong and fiery. Reese’s Southern heritage informs her whole life, and she loves sharing the joys of Southern living with practically everyone she meets. She takes the South wherever she goes with bluegrass, big holiday parties, and plenty of Dorothea’s fried chicken.

I thought this was going to be more of an autobiography, but it's a Miss Manners.

Enter the world of a solitary but intrepid New Yorker. Orphaned as a young adult, this divorced, smartass metaphysician has sought solace and insight from philosophers, seances, channels and mediums: a path that has, inevitably, led her back to her formidable fortress within. Join Valerie as she scales the castle walls on her journey for love, sex, sass, a chuckle, and really good chocolate.

An open, honest, funny and tragic memoir. By the end Valerie feels like a friend. Really well read by the author.
