I am sorry to say the narrator did not do this story justice. She spoke so slowly I thought I had somehow hit the speed button to a lower setting. The odd thing is that when she was talking as a character, she did just fine. It was when she was reading the rest of it that I could barely stay listening. Very monotone too so that didn't help with how drawn out the narration was. Anyway, I did not care for the narrator for this at all.

The story itself was very enjoyable. It was a good story and likeable characters. I love Lynsay Sands books and usually get them without a preview but this is the second audio book of hers where I have not cared for the narrator so now will give a listen first and see if I can tell what it will be like.

For Miss Charlotte Windham, the best way to maintain her spinsterhood - and her independence - is a teeny, tiny brush with scandal. She chooses wealthy, handsome upstart Lucas Sherbourne as her unwitting accomplice. He's intelligent, logical, and ambitious. What Charlotte doesn't count on is that one kiss will lead them straight to the altar. Sherbourne has no love for polite society, nor is he keen on being anybody's husband of last resort. He is attracted to Charlotte's boldness, though - and her family's influence. Without a title, he knows he'll never truly be part of their world.

But an ok Grace Burrowes is still pretty good. I liked the characters and premise, it just seemed a bit dull compared to others from this author. I also don't care for many of the voices the narrator uses. The men all sound old and the women very masculine so am not sure if that had something to do with my lukewarm enjoyment of the story itself. As I said, though, I am a huge Grace Burrowes fan and will look forward to the next read/listen.

I enjoyed this story from the first minute. It's witty, heart touching, romantic and Mary Jane Wells reads it PERFECTLY. I have read many Tessa Dare books and loved them all but think this story was made all the more enjoyable because of Ms. Wells narrating. If you like humor and quick wit in your historical romance, you will love this story!

The narrator took the fun out of this book for me. I love this series and have been excited about each new release by audio except for the latest two of the series. For this story, Mr. Froomkin has a colorful way of delivery and his timing was great during the humorous parts but I thought the men sounded a bit dimwitted and the females as if they were very strict and formidable. I finished it because the story was interesting but will beware of who narrates the next one.

I read this when it came out in the '90's and loved it. When I found it on audio, and by one of my all time favorite narrators, I had to get it and was not disappointed. I am not quite sure what it is about this book that makes it one of my favorite Julie Garwood books but it is. I love all the characters, the story itself, location, everything. I will listen to this again, just as I have reread the book. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I think every new story by Loretta Chase is the best ever but this was so delightful, humorous, wonderful, PERFECT, that I truly think this is her best yet and just think what that is saying after all her previous, wonderful books! I am sorry to gush so but this audio deserves it. There is a perfect match when Ms. Chase writes and Kate Reading narrates. Absolutely perfect. I truly didn't want it to end. The story and characters are a complete delight and I will be listening to it again soon.

Ms. Reading is one of my favorite narrators and this is a perfect example of why. Every emphasis is perfect to the situation, the dry humor comes across perfectly and I had tears in my eyes at the endearing Duke and his wonderful bluestocking.

What a wonderful, wonderful story. For anyone who enjoys historical romance, this is a must read/listen. Can't wait for the next one and hope it comes soon!

I do love Ms Johnstone's Heroines as they are always smart, honest and can stand on their own when they need to. I was excited to read Cameron's story and was not disappointed. Dinner was late tonight because I wanted to listen to the ending without interruption. (: Plot and character descriptions are covered in the summary so I will just say that I thoroughly enjoyed the story and recommend it to anyone who loves historical romances, especially Scottish ones!

Tim Campbell is one of my favorite narrators, always bringing life to the story. I had a hard time, at first, understanding what he was saying when he used a deep, heavy accent so spent time going back to listen again a few times until I adjusted to the accent and enjoyed the rest of the story.

I have read or listened to each book in this series and enjoyed them all so am looking forward to number 6!
