First I'm going to start off by saying there isn't one book by this author I don't like. Everything he has is really good. I've had this book in my wish list for a long time because I don't like the idea very much. I should have known better. Seriously, everything this guy does is great. It should go without even mentioning but the narration is amazing. One of the greats without a doubt. I'm honestly irritated with myself for letting this go unread for so long. No, it's not earth shattering good or anything, but it is really good. Once the next comes out I'm all over it.

Don't let that headline fool you. I absolutely freakin loved the Cradle series. A lot. I've read it several times through. It's amazing. I want to read the sea and shadow thing he has as well, but it's not on Audible yet so I can't. My eyes suck. So I seen this series. Didn't take the plunge until recently because I seen that the author narrated it and I was scared it would suck. It doesn't. He has a Wil Wheaton thing going on. If you're reading this Wight you should listen to that guys stuff and take how he does emotional moments. That's the only thing I think Mr. Wight lacked a bit of. He just didn't emote as well as I think he really can. That isn't something he does that is worth taking points for though. When I first started the series I almost quit because I didn't like the "magic" system at all. Don't like summoning. At all. The user has no power. Just the things they summon. Very distasteful. For me. Glad I stayed with it. They aren't really summoners so I would have quit for no reason. This series is wonderful and I really hope he puts out all his others on Audible as well because so far everything this man has written is gold. Seriously really good stuff that is more than worth the money or credit.

After the Cradle series I figured I wouldn't get to have another book like that on Audible. Mr. Wong, you made my day. This stuff is great. I cannot wait for more. Now I'm gonna be all obsessive about checking for release dates for another series. So worth it.

I'm sorry but I don't like Jim Dale compared to Stephen Fry. Mr. Fry is so, so much better at this series. If they would put those versions on Audible I would buy every one of them again. They would be so much better. I just don't understand why they don't. At all.

This is a great story. So far this has to be the best Peter Pan story. The only complaint I have is with the authors Afterword. He postulates that because modern children play video games they would take to mayhem and actual murder (with sword and spear) very easily. This is false. Yes, there will be exceptions of course. You will have the odd sociopath or whatnot but someone who just plays video games all the time? No. I am not a gamer, but I know many. Their social skills leave much to be desired. If someone does nothing but engage computer games, the first time they shoot a real weapon the physical shock alone can scare them. (Children especially). Give them a sword and say "go kill this scaly monster eating your new friend over there." Nope. He is wrong about that. What people do in digital makes no difference to how they react to the real world. Besides that this story is wonderful. Enjoy.

This is an absolutely wonderful, Cerebral, intriguing mystery. I'll of course listen to it again just so I can enjoy it with hindsight. It starts off good and when it comes to a Head it doesn't disappoint. It should go without saying, but Morton (the narrator) is Heads and shoulders above the average. Seriously. This book is great. It won't bore you ever, and it will always keep your Head involved.

All this book does is prove how great a writer Clines really is. Not many writers today could really put something like this together so well. It's worth it. And the narrator of course is awesome.

So the good things about this story are very good. The magic system for example is my favorite magic system I've ever read about. I like pretty much everything else as well. What I don't like however is something I REALLY don't like. Narrator is great. Now from here it might get a bit spoilery. I hate Harems. The first 2 books are really good. The story never gets x-rated or anything, but the author has an unhealthy obsession with women. Half the population is women. They really are no big deal. At all. He is obsessed with boobs. Nearly every woman you meet in the story you know their bust size. Harems are so ridiculously juvenile. So of course the main character looks at boobs like they are literally magic. Literally magic. They are not. It's just boobs man. Luckily he doesn't go even creepier into detail about the fake ass relationship. I love litrpg, but I can barely ever read any of the new ones. Almost all of them are full of either harems or MCs who are complete morons. This MC isn't stupid or anything, but he is unrealistic in the way he sees his family. Spoilery bit.... When he goes his separate ways with his parents they're just like "bye, forever. See ya!"
Seriously man? The MC didn't talk about being distant with his parents. They speak. They supposedly love each other. Where is the connection? I guess the MCs mom's boobs aren't big enough for her to matter as a character. Ugh. Sorry. The magic system is so freaking cool though. Really is.

Ok. Cons- There are some dialogue issues. Over emotional type. Like in awkward ways. Hard to explain, but it's not a deal breaker.
Pros- Actually has a really unique world. The whole system thing. Yes, it takes a long time for that to Be explained but when it does it definitely works.
Conclusion- Its good. It's worth it. Also there aren't any harems. Thank the maker for that. Love being spared that creepiness. Narrator is top notch. Good job.

P.S Stupid book title. I would have read this a long time ago if he would've named it something better. Dodge Tank. blehk. Horrible. Great story though. (I know I should not be judging like that. It's something I just can't help).

Story is good but the problem is a simple one. I get leaving your readers in suspense for the next book. You know, cliff hangers and all that. But this guy is really bad at it. You leave them in suspense when a big part of the plot is about to be shown or something. Not in the middle of a run. So yeah the story is good and I'll continue reading this series. I'm hoping it doesn't take as long for the next book as this one. But I do hope he stops leaving things hanging in such a crap way in the future.
