What a boring, unrealistic book. It is read by the author so maybe she thinks it’s amazing but I can’t even get through half of it. Main characters are dumb and this is a “spy wannabe” by an author who barely knows how the internet works. No thanks.

I didn't like this one much at all, and found myself looking forward to the end. I thought all the non-recurring characters were obnoxious. Just wasn't really my style. This is currently the latest book in the Tessa series, but it really didn't add much to her or Wyatt's story.

Overall, just meh. Glad it's over.

An innocent man is about to be executed. Only a guilty man can save him. Travis Boyette is such a man. In 1998, in the small East Texas city of Sloan, he abducted, raped, and strangled a popular high-school cheerleader. He buried her body so that it would never be found, then watched in amazement as police and prosecutors arrested and convicted Donté Drumm, a local football star, and marched him off to death row.

The narrator seriously sounds like 100 years old. It seriously sounds like a joke. I cannot take a book with a young main character seriously when the narrator sounds older than my great-grandmother. Returned after 30 mins to buy the physical book to read since I love the original author.

Toni Murphy was eighteen when she and her boyfriend, Ryan, were wrongly convicted of the murder of her younger sister. Now she is thirty-four and back in her hometown, working every day to forge and adjust to a new life on the outside. She's doing everything in her power to avoid violating her parole and going back to prison. But nothing is making that easy – not Ryan, who is convinced he can figure out the truth; not her mother, who clearly doubts Toni's innocence; and certainly not the group of women who made Toni's life miserable in high school.

What three words best describe Jorjeana Marie’s performance?

Had. A. Cold.

Any additional comments?

The book was AWESOME. But I'm glad that I'm not the only one who thinks the narrator had a cold/had an extremely nasal-y voice. I got over it after about an hour, but I could see how it could be distracting. Narrator really didn't do the book justice.

Would you try another book from Sarah Dessen and/or Allie Gallerani?

I've always been a fan of Sarah Dessen books, but this one fell short. I found the narrator irritating. Usually I stop noticing the narrator after a couple hours, but this one sounded bored and was monotone about 75% of the time. She just didn't sound into it.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I felt like, unlike Dessen's other books, this one doesn't tie together well. It's full of the normal analogies and insightful phrases, but they seem tossed in without really tying into any specific theme. There were also some kinda loose ends and the love story/interests just didn't make sense.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Just sounded bored and uninterested.
