This was a brutal book. Although it was well written and the reader did a great job with presentation, it was painful to finish.
The characters were well developed and the scenes rich with description so that you lived through them instead of merely reading. But that became the problem for me. Set in Nazi occupied France, I, the listener was present for brutal torture, murder, rape, and all the horrors of that time you can ever imagine. I did not enjoy "living" through this war or this holocaust as no one did in actual times. But for me, the listener, I persevered in the hope of some light....some learning....some lifting in the end. Something, some gift to the listener/reader that made the time and focus worthwhile. Alas, for me, it was a gut-wrenching totally unenjoyable experience. I would not recommend this book to anyone in print or listening format unless that person is seeking a tortuous tale with graphic descriptions of the worst of human behavior.

Would you listen to Designing Your Life again? Why?

The audio is quite nice and well done. I suggest the printed version for the charts, questionnaires/homework, etc. Difficult to use the references in the audio version.Content is inspiring and the authors are illuminating and scholarly. I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to owning a hard copy.I would not buy this as an audio book to start.

Would you be willing to try another one of Bill Burnett and Dave Evans ’s performances?

yes

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

no

Any additional comments?

The only reason I gave less than four stars in any category was because of the audio format. I would rate this book much higher in its printed form.
