I really loved this book. It's no-nonsense information is very practical. The authors start off by making sure that the reader is really serious about writing and working hard before delving into the details. It was a great read (listen), excellent pace, great information and so much shared wisdom. I'll read it again and again as I write my books.

The idea that “thoughts become things” has become a meme in popular culture. It’s held as a firm proposition in metaphysics, and some spiritual teachers ascribe infinite powers to the mind. But are these claims scientifically accurate? What does the scientific evidence tell us about the scope of the human mind to transform thoughts into reality?

I absolutely love this book. Dawson Church takes a scientific approach to what is commonly considered "new age" or "mystical" by the sceptics and time after time, he proves that we have more power in our thoughts than we ever imagined. While some chapters are quite lengthy, I believe that they are power packed with scientific evidence. Dawson himself reads the book, and his passion and love for the subject are very evident. He also offers loads of freebies and additional content. You get so much more than just the book! True value for money. An amazing book. I'll be listening to it again and again.

Another brilliant crime thriller featuring Cormorand Strike and his "partner" Robin.

From the moment a woman's leg arrived at the Private Investigator's office, addressed to his Girl Friday and partner, Robin, the story was on!

I'm a fan of Robert Galbraith and this novel built on the previous ones also featuring Cormorand and Robin. It is an interesting tale of two strong characters solving crimes, in spite of personal and financial constraints.

This story introduces a new character, Shanker. I really enjoyed this new, colourful character and the role he plays in assisting the two primary protagonists.

The villain is evil to the core, has motives that run deeper than simple pleasures or malice - that make him unpredictable and interesting.

It is a long book, but my attention was hooked from start to finish and I didn't want it to end. I'm looking forward to their next adventure.

Robert Glenister is a master narrator! His accents and voices are brilliant! I really enjoyed his style and will listen to more books that are narrated by him.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes I would. As a big fan of the Archie and Gretchen series, I was very interested in reading this book. It did not disappoint. I was gripped from beginning to end.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love the main character, Kick. She goes through the most traumatic experience as a young girl but uses it to fuel her survival. She is complicated and difficult - but actually has a heart of gold and is a powerful woman.

Which character – as performed by Heather Lind – was your favorite?

I love the detective who finds and cares for Kick. No matter what happens he shows up when she needs him. Heather managed to portray a lovely fatherly tone in his dialogue.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

You can't keep a good woman down.

Would you consider the audio edition of Pretty Girls to be better than the print version?

I have not read the print version but the audio version was extremely well done. Excellent performances! Brilliant story and unpredictable plot.

What other book might you compare Pretty Girls to and why?

Similar to Karin Slaughter's Grant County thrillers, this story is well constructed with believable characters. The villain is a complex character but his/her acts are pure evil! The protagonist tends to receive help from an unexpected source and there are twists and turns the whole way through the book.

Which scene was your favorite?

I enjoyed the end scene. After reading a very thrilling book where the protagonists encountered one setback after the next, and it seemed all hope was lost, it was wonderful to see them take back their power in the end. I won't say more and spoil the ending for you - but this was a really powerful scene.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was very disturbed at times when the story became too violent. The villain is particularly wicked and his abuse of women is diabolical. These scenes are quite graphic and fortunately, not that long or frequent.

Any additional comments?

Karin is a master storyteller and this is one of the best I've read so far. Highly recommended!

If you could sum up Your Brain on Love in three words, what would they be?

Good, practical advice!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Your Brain on Love?

A number of times I almost expected a light bulb to appear above my head; because I was confronted with one "A-ha!" moment after another as he explained the material. He uses years of relationship counselling experience to give good, solid advice.

He explains complex, scientific brain neuroscience in simple terms with enough information to really help the reader grasp the concept. Then he helps you understand that none of the personality types are "wrong" or "right" and how you can best relate to any of them. I love the simplicity with which he explains these concepts and the practical advice he gives for each.

Any additional comments?

This should be a compulsory book for every person to read. He presents it so well, without judgement and gives such brilliant advice. His ultimate goal is to help people build solid, secure relationships and I believe that he gives the reader sufficient tools to accomplish that.
