I met Sarah Kate Erickson when I was 21 years old. I was lucky enough to keep her for seven years before a tragic accident stole her from me. She didn't die, but sometimes I think it would have been easier if she had. I lived in a haze for those four years after the accident. Catering to her every need, even though she hated the very sight of my face. I tried to hold on to her and the future that we were supposed to build together. But you can't hold on to someone that doesn't exist anymore.

I used to believe there were lines in life you don't cross. Don't lie. Don't cheat. Don't steal. Until I learned people don't always practice what they preach. I turned in my badge and gun and walked away from everything. Then I got the call no one wants, and I'm back in New Orleans. What I don't expect is for her to be here, too. Another line you don't cross? Don't touch your best friend's little sister. She's always been off-limits. Too bad I don't follow the rules anymore.

Dillon Keck knew Ashlyn Mayson was drunk when she suggested they get married. He knew he should have taken her back to their hotel room. Instead, he did what he had been craving to do since the moment they met. Claim her as his. Waking up married in Vegas isn't something Ashlyn ever thought would happen to her. Having Dillon, her boss, insist they stay married is absurd. But someone isn't happy for Dillon and Ashlyn and their newfound romance, and they're willing to do anything to keep them apart. Even commit murder.

Okay I just don't know what to say about this book. I couldn't wait to listen to it because I have loved listening to all Aurora Rose Reynolds' previous books even if they are very similar to Kristen Ashley writing (whom I love immensely), but this book right here. I felt like I was missing huge chunks of the storyline.

First let's start with the marriage in Vegas, and Dillion not even wanting to get an annulment even though they never dated before at all or even admitted to having feelings for one another. I thought to myself okay I can get past that part of the story.

But what really had me confused was the mystery/suspense/murder storyline. I thought that could have been developed so much more. Especially at the end when she got kidnapped out of bed by the serial killer, when she thought it was Kim who was murdered, from her escape from serial killer, and then her rescue. I WAS TOTALLY CONFUSED!!! At first I really thought she was having a terrible nightmare and she was still at home, but then I realized that it was real. I actually went back to the previous chapter because I thought I might have missed something that would lead up to her kidnapping, but I didn't.

I still love Aurora Rose Reynolds' books and still can't wait until SAGE comes out in an audible book version, but I really thought she could have done better with this book.

The only permanent thing in my life is the ink I put on my clients. I drift from city to city, in and out of beds, from one tattoo shop to the next. Every time I start to put down roots, I rip them up. Until New Orleans. Until her. She's everything I'm not. Full of fire and life. An innocent where I'm a sinner. I want to consume her. Protect her. They call me Rage. My real name is like a shadow, always close behind but never quite able to catch up. I fly under the radar because no one ever suspects I'm capable of the kind of brutal violence I commit each and every day. You see, I'm a girl. I'm 19. And I'm a killer. This life is all I know. It's all I want to know. It keeps the things buried that I need kept buried. It allows me to live without thinking too much. Without dwelling on the past. Until him. It all changes when an ordinary boy becomes my next target. And my first love.

This book is a must read and definitely worth the credit, but you really need to read the first 4 books to understand how far Nick has overcome!! LOVE IT!! Kristen Ashley is my favorite author.
