Eric - or King Halar, or Vlad, or any number of aliases - doesn't want to be bothered. It's hard to pin down what he does want, if anything. He lives a quiet life, almost a solitary one, mourning in his own way for the loss of someone dear. His quiet solitude can't go on forever. Despite the empty places inside him, events and creatures move through the worlds and across the void between, forcing him into action, into fighting, into confronting things perhaps better left alone...even forcing him into being a King.

What made the experience of listening to The Land: Forging the most enjoyable?

It's very easy to follow the character. You feel when he does good and feel embarrassed when he makes a Dumb A$$ of himself.

What did you like best about this story?

The easy going reading. The funny humor is very catching. Like he's own trade mark .

What does Nick Podehl bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Omg the personality of the main character for sure. The mannerism, the heart felt everything.

If you could rename The Land: Forging, what would you call it?

No idea I like the name.

Any additional comments?

Give the main character he's girl already. Or he's own personal harem. We're in the land when you can have your own personal Anime Hot girlfriend!!! Give the man he's due. Make it like the town fashion show or something. He's loaded rich man. Make the town want, to give away there daughters to the man. Make him choose he's girl from the hottest of the town. And if in doing so he finds a smoken hot elf w a good Hot bod heyyy he's earned it right!!!

Centuries ago the human race fought its first great war against an alien race - and lost. A tiny population of human beings fled to distant Safehold. Centuries later their descendants have forgotten their history; for them, life has been an eternal Middle Ages, ruled by the Church of God Awaiting, whose secret purpose is to prevent the reemergence of industrial civilization. But not all of Safehold's founders were onboard with this plan. Those dissidents left behind their own secret legacies.

What disappointed you about Seveneves?

Honestly the story was everywhere. it had science and the thoughts of guys along the line with girls too. It got to the point where technology and government politics got involved that it lost its main focus that I have to say i still don't understand. I couldn't finish the book. It maid human selfishness clearly clear but maybe a lil to much of bad and no good. Again I didn't, couldn't finish it.

Would you ever listen to anything by Neal Stephenson again?

I don't know. I am new to this author.

What didn’t you like about Mary Robinette Kowal and Will Damron ’s performance?

They did ok just the writing of the book didn't make it appeasing for me to listen to.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The only part I found worth listening too was when the books title maid it Finally to the stoy. Some things come together but again to much

Any additional comments?

I believe in a book there has to be a balance. This book was very very scientific along with political and focused more on the bad qualities of humanity. It left humans with only 1 or 2 individuals maybe 3 who are of worth out of the human race. Kinda of a downer

For centuries, the world of Safehold, last redoubt of the human race, lay under the unchallenged rule of the Church of God Awaiting. The Church permitted nothing new - no new inventions, no new understandings of the world. What no one knew was that the Church was an elaborate fraud - a high-tech system established by a rebel faction of Safehold’s founders, meant to keep humanity hidden from the powerful alien race that had destroyed old Earth.
