Daisy Flattery is a free spirit with a soft spot for strays and a weakness for a good story. Why else would she agree to the outrageous charade offered by her buttoned-down workaholic neighbor, Linc Blaise? The history professor needs to have a fiancée in order to capture his dream job, and Daisy is game to play the role. But something funny happens on their way to the altar that changes everything.

I am so impressed with Elin Peer’s take on a distopian world that I was compelled to tell other listeners to CLICK and BUY IT! Even listeners not interested in the sci-fi genre (as I usually am) won’t regret it because even tho the environment has changed, there are still delicious Alpha males, and sexual chemistry that is explosive! The narrators bring the story to life with such passion that I have to listen again after I write this!!

Angela Quarles is fast becoming one of my favorite historical romance novelists! Her vast knowledge of the time and land shine through in all of the books in this series. The narrator is completely AMAZING with a voice that pulls you right into the story. I do, however, think I should have refreshed my memory and reread/listened to the last book again. I had forgotten a few things. I loved Duncan and Fiona's story. I look forward to more from Ms. Quarles.

Melody is not like most people. She cannot walk or talk, but she has a photographic memory; she can remember every detail of everything she has ever experienced. She is smarter than most of the adults who try to diagnose her and smarter than her classmates in her integrated classroom - the very same classmates who dismiss her as mentally challenged because she cannot tell them otherwise. But Melody refuses to be defined by cerebral palsy.

Sixteen-year-old Starr Carter moves between two worlds: the poor neighborhood where she lives and the fancy suburban prep school she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is shattered when Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. Khalil was unarmed. Soon afterward, his death is a national headline. Some are calling him a thug, maybe even a drug dealer and a gangbanger. Protesters are taking to the streets in Khalil’s name. Some cops and the local drug lord try to intimidate Starr and her family. What everyone wants to know is: what really went down that night? And the only person alive who can answer that is Starr.

I agree that this should be required reading. it's an AMAZING story that unfortunately is too much like everyday news. I realize that there are parents who wouldn't like for their middle schoolers to read the tough language. I can assure them unless they are home schooled, their kids have already heard these words. I will be recommending this book to all of my friends.
