When Zara encounters a wounded fox walking through Spirit Park, she has to decide if someone is trying to get her to reveal herself as a witch or it's just a wounded fox. What she learns turns her house and life upside down. Not only that, but Zoey finally finds her magical power but it isn't what they expected. Zoey and Zinnia have to save Zara from a killer plant. Kacey Chance is an aspiring actress with a cute face and a plucky attitude. She's trying to break into Hollywood, but it isn't easy. She was the prettiest girl in her hometown, but in LA she's a dime a dozen. When a friend offers Kacey a job working at a detective agency, the young actress jumps at the opportunity. The detective agency is unlike any she's ever seen in the movies. It's run by three handsome, single brothers and their sassy grandmother. Her first day at the agency is anything but boring.

Kacey wanted to be an actress but has decided that she needs a real career instead of chasing "the dream of Hollywood". She becomes a temp run by three brothers, each with their unique personality. The brothers and their grandmother feel she is just a temp and will be leaving when the next casting call comes. She ends up having to prove herself if she hopes to keep her job. The book indicates that she ends up marrying one of them but leaves you to figure out which one. You don't find out in this installment of the Booker Brothers Detective Agency book.

The book is fun to listen to. It leaves you wanting more.

Chet Moore, the moody shifter who lives next door, has been running hot and cold like a broken faucet ever since they met. Zara finally resorts to magic to get the truth out of him. It turns out her instincts were right. Chet has been hiding something, and it's a doozy. Now Chet wants Zara's help with an intensely personal mission. He wants her to track down a lost soul and solve a cold case - a strange and violent case that powerful entities would rather keep buried.

Zara likes to play pranks with her co-worker, Frank. She pulls one with very surprising results. She ends up needing help to correct the magic and learns that her neighbor is actually engaged. When Zara finds her daughter's name in a translation of a very old text, she learns that forces brought her to Wisteria that she didn't know about and for a very specific reason.

I enjoyed this book, as I have the other in the two series that I have listened to. It was interesting to hear about Zara's side of the story happening "real time" while knowing what was happening with Zennia at the same time since I already listened to her latest book and it was mentioned in that book, just not in detail. The two series run parallel to each other with their lives intersecting but have very different story lines. Zara is still learning about being a witch while Zennia has been a witch for years and is tutoring Zara to help her develop her powers.

I received this book from the author to review and this is my true and honest review. I really enjoy the books.

Zinnia Riddle has been through a rough patch, but she's not broken. This witch is tougher than she looks. Yank off her arm? She'll patch it back on with some black scarabyce blood. Mess with her coworkers? She'll grab her purse full of magic and come for you! Now that she's the boss of her own department, life seems simple enough. Sure, there are strange creatures crawling out of the ceiling, but that's life in a magical town like Wisteria. But when two of her coworkers go missing, Zinnia springs into action.

Zinnia Riddle and her co-workers learn more about themselves and pull together to rescue the "red shirts" in this installment of the Wisteria Witches Mysteries. They end up in a dimension reached by an accordion floor and are taken by time worms. Margaret can't seem to keep her mouth shut and ends up a statue and the group finds that the creatures that are slipping through a portal in time into their world are the result of a time loop that needs to be closed. The problem is, the magic of Zinnia and her co-workers doesn't work in the other world.

The author comes up with an interesting and entertaining story line that shows different magical entities working together to close a wrinkle in time. I really enjoyed listening to the book.

Zara Riddle moved to Wisteria for a quiet, simple, safe life. Instead, she got ghosts, demon birds, shifters, and even gorgons. Luckily for Zara, her family tree is riddled with witchcraft. She may be a late bloomer, but this witch is crafty. When mysterious forces erase words from the town's books, Zara conjures a magical creature to restore the text. But magic has a mind of its own, and magical creatures love trouble. Pretty soon, the bodies start piling up. Now Zara must face whoever (or whatever) is behind a dark plot to destroy everything she loves.

Zara recently discovered she is a witch. Not just any witch, a spirit charmed one. Ink is disappearing from books. She overhears a conversation about an machine that erases things. Her aunt Zinnia makes a bookworm dough that smelled so good that she puts her tongue to it with disastrous results. Her aunt binds her powers for misuse of magic at a time when she really needs it.

Will Zara be able to stop the machine from erasing people without magic?

The book is funny. Zara has a sharp-tongued whit that is amusing. She really should listen to other people and she might not find herself in mystical trouble as often.

Zinnia Riddle doesn't use her witch powers much these days. She works as a clerk at the Wisteria Permits Department, where there hasn't been much need for spells and potions...until now. When a beloved coworker is found dead next to her desk, the whole office gets paranoid. Is one of them a killer? Did the victim leave behind clues in the book she was writing? Is there a town-wide conspiracy, or is some lone serial predator on the loose?

This book tells the story of Zinnia and sets the background for the town/city of Wisteria, where various supernatural "species" live together in a magical community. Of course they don't always get along.

Zinnia's magic is a little rusty since she was trying to be "normal" but decides it is time to start practicing again when a coworker ends up dead. She and fellow witch Margaret try to determine if something magical killed their friend and why. Unfortunately, you can't always trust your feelings when it comes to the opposite sex. Feelings can get in the way of seeing what is in front of your eyes.

I liked the relationship between Zinnia and the police detective that knows she is a witch is interesting. The fact that there is a department of "magic" is another reminder of a magical series I really enjoy.

This book filled in information I didn't know about Zinnia since I first read/listened to a Zara Riddle book. I enjoyed them both very much. The Zinnia in this book isn't as sure of herself as the Zinnia in the Zara book appeared to be.

I received this book to review by the author and this is my truthful review.

Things keep happening in the house. Zara suddenly feels like making toast in the middle of the night. She feels inspired to host a dinner party even though her daughter says she burns ice cubes.

Zara learns that her desire to move to Wisteria may not be totally her decision. She learns she is a witch and can channel ghosts. Will she be able to solve the mystery around the death of her house's previous occupant without putting herself and and her daughter in danger?
