Edinburgh, 1844. Beautiful Aileana Kameron only looks the part of an aristocratic young lady. In fact, she's spent the year since her mother died developing her ability to sense the presence of Sithichean, a faery race bent on slaughtering humans. She has a secret mission: to destroy the faery who murdered her mother. But when she learns she's a Falconer, the last in a line of female warriors and the sole hope of preventing a powerful faery population from massacring all of humanity, her quest for revenge gets a whole lot more complicated.
Fabulous!! Why isn't Book 2 on Audible?!!

There was nothing I hated about this book. But nothing that had my heart warming or beating quickly with excitement.
I needed either more fantasy or more romance. I needed less internal dialogue from Aileana. I really think it would have been more of a story if she spoke some of her billions of thoughts.
Not a bad story line, nice world building, and great characters. Just not my jam. And it's a cliffhanger.

The Mermaid's Sister
- By: Carrie Anne Noble
- Narrated by: Kate Rudd
- Length: 7 hrs and 36 mins
There is no cure for being who you truly are.… In a cottage high atop Llanfair Mountain, sixteen-year-old Clara lives with her sister, Maren, and guardian Auntie. By day, they gather herbs for Auntie's healing potions. By night, Auntie spins tales of faraway lands and wicked fairies. Clara's favorite story tells of three orphan infants—Clara, who was brought to Auntie by a stork; Maren, who arrived in a seashell; and their best friend, O'Neill, who was found beneath an apple tree. One day, Clara discovers shimmering scales just beneath her sister's skin.

Swishing gets you nothing
I waited way too long before I finally gave this book a chance. The description does not and can not do it justice!
Such a well put together story of magic, set in an historical, but everyday setting with characters that come alive. Some you want to punch, others you want to hug.
The narration was perfect. Every voice was believable and the inflections brought life and emotions to the surface.
This is a fast pace and heartwarming book. I ended it with a smile on my face. I may have listened to it straight through.... All in one day. So good.
