There were quite a few good points in this series of interviews. I loved the insight given from the scientists and CEOs on how to lead.

What I didn’t find riveting was the “storytelling” way of influencing. While I agree with the concept that people will remember a story better than a statistic, the example was definitely a forced “storytelling” way of influencing the readers. They hit so many political points in this piece that they just lost me - and I agree with a lot of them!

Props to this guy for putting the work in, but...

I would suggest getting a new narrator. I’m really not sure how anyone can listen to that guy’s voice in a recurring podcast!

More BS making southerners seem inferior to “refined” Hollywood types

Sittenfeld was trying to appear “open” to ideas from dumb southerners, but can we just get a break from hearing the same garbage over and over again? There are good people everywhere, even evangelical “hate mongers”. I can’t even describe how misinformed, ignorant, and close-minded this author is, which comes through in the words she writes. Does everything these days have to be so divisive?

This one was tough to get into, I concede that. Luckily I can never quit in the middle of something (with the exception of one particular book). Based on the previous Archive books, I decided to stick with it. The story is much more complex and yet ties up more of what the others have left to question. Finish it, you won’t be sorry!

P.S. Kate Reading has come a long way since book 1!

Any additional comments?

This was a great overview of the universe from an astrophysicist's perspective. I really enjoyed the energy Neil brought in the narration, although the humor was a bit forced at times. But I am just a lowly reader

That being said, his opinionated tone and lecturing remarks turned me off at times. I don't know how many times we have to hear the same message pushed over and over again! Let's just focus on the matter and energy, Neil :) You are brilliant, but some things in this world are truly subjective.

Toward the end of the book, I kept thinking he was plagiarizing someone (although I had no idea where the quote came from before reading this book). Turns out, Avenged Sevenfold quotes him in their song "Exist". So, for you fans out there, that was a nice tie-in to the musical world.

I like the scientific approach Duhigg uses to describe the habit loop. It just keeps bothering me that there are so many other factors involved on the larger scale.

That aside, a great book worth reading.
