I've read this book years ago so was excited to listen to it. I loved the story line & the narration was pretty good. The biggest drawback is that they need to fix the audio file. There are several places where it skips much like CDs used to. I tried uninstalling & redownoading the book but it skipped in the same spots.

Rumor said the powerful Nicolai DeMarco could command the heavens, that the beasts below did his bidding... and that he was doomed to destroy the woman he took as wife. It was whispered he was not wholly human - as untamed as his tawny mane and slashing amber eyes. Impoverished aristocrat Isabella Vernaducci would defy death itself to rescue her imprisoned brother. She’d even brave the haunted, accursed lair of the lion - the menacing palace of legendary, lethal Don Nicolai DeMarco.

Although I would have preferred the UK version read by Steven Fry, these were good too! I love being able to listen to the story while I'm doing other things and this book got me officially hooked on audio books!

A great telling that truly allows you to immerse yourself in the story. The only drawback was that they played the music at the end of every chapter. After being used to it only coming in at the beginning & end of each book it was somewhat jarring to hear it when you know the book can't be over yet...

I truly enjoyed listening to this book. I'd read it before, although it'd been long enough that I couldn't remember most of it. That was a bonus though because even though it was familiar it was almost like reading it for the first time. The narrator was great as well. His voice was very pleasant to listen to, and his ability to differentiate voices kept it easy to follow and know who the speak was and whether they were male or female. I'll be listening to the rest of the books of this series and probably looking for more books read by this narrator once I've finished. Highly Recommend.
