The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the Native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon came ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There went the good old days, when humans got killed only by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Charley Castillo works with the Department of Homeland Security, but more and more is the man to whom the President turns when he needs an investigation done discreetly. And no situation demands discretion more than the one before them now. An American diplomat's wife is kidnapped in Argentina, and her husband is murdered before her eyes.

Yes. The story telling is always great. Dick Hill is a master.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Two armed men board a 727 that has been all but forgotten at an airfield in Angola. Hijacking the jet, they then slit the throat of the lone crew and fly to parts unknown. The consternation is immediate, as the CIA, FBI, and other agencies race to find out what happened, in the process elbowing one another in the sides a little too vigorously. Fed up, the president of the United States turns to an outside investigator to determine the truth.

What did you love best about By Order of the President?

Being a new book Griffin does his normal great job in building a new set of characters. Generally his military description is right on target. I really loved the scene at the Fort Bragg Rod and Gun Club. As a transit air crew I've eaten there before and the burgers are legendary!!

What other book might you compare By Order of the President to and why?

Most of WEB Griffin's military stuff.

Have you listened to any of Dick Hill’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Excellent as always.

Would you listen to The Host again? Why?

Yes, in fact I've started it again already. It's a major chick flick book (huh?), but it's one of the best books I've read. On my top 5 all time list.

What does Kate Reading bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I tend to read in black and white. But the performance brings in color and depth I don't normally get while reading.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I listen to books on the way to and from work. On days my coworker drives I fell sound asleep while listening to the book. The story line is good. Just too slow a progression though the plot. Felt like in some areas like Brown was trying to stretch out the book with unnecessary level of detail, so that when they condense it for the movie they wont have to leave out good stuff.

Has Inferno turned you off from other books in this genre?

Nope

The frontiersmen were a remarkable breed of men. They were often rough and illiterate, sometimes brutal and vicious, often seeking an escape in the wilderness of mid-America from crimes committed back east. In the beautiful but deadly country which would one day come to be known as West Virginia, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois, more often than not they left their bones to bleach beside forest paths or on the banks of the Ohio River.

What made the experience of listening to The Frontiersmen the most enjoyable?

The Frontiersmen is a life long favorite of mine. Kenton is my 7th generation Grandfather, there's a personal aspect to the book. Eckert does an excellent job converting historic documents to an intriguing tale.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Frontiersmen?

Saving Boone, kicking Andrew Jackson's behind!

What about Kevin Foley’s performance did you like?

As always he does a great job with various voices and imparts emotion to the book well.
