A winner of the National Book Award, The Moviegoer established Walker Percy as an insightful and grimly humorous storyteller. It is the tale of Binx Bolling, a small-time stockbroker who lives quietly in suburban New Orleans, pursuing an interest in the movies, affairs with his secretaries, and living out his days. But soon he finds himself on a "search" for something more important, some spiritual truth to anchor him.

This book was awful on so many levels that a do not know where to begin. If I could give this negative stars, I would. As a New Orleans native, I usually enjoy reading/listening to books about my city; not this time. I got half way through this wretched novel before I finally gave up waiting for something to happen. The main character was a narcissistic fop. The narrator was even worse. If one is to narrate a book about New Orleans, one should at least learn how to pronounce the iconic street names and local family names. In addition, the bungling narrator was unable to pronounce the names of some of the cities on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Does no one listen to these books after they are narrated to make sure the pronunciation is correct? I have had this book in my library for four years before I decided to read it. I only wished I had skipped it completely.

What happens when your entire future is destroyed in moments? My name is Dane Walker, and I'm entirely, irrevocably damaged. I lost my whole life in the plane crash that killed my father and left me scarred, both physically and emotionally, barely clinging to life in a hospital as the sole survivor of the accident. I wasn't fit to function in the city, so I moved to my own private island in the Bahamas to lick my wounds alone. But then I met her.

Usually I am not fond of books in a series because you must read them all to get the gist of what is happening. these three books were an exception. Each brother had their own story which was lightly connected to his two other brothers. I enjoyed the narrator immensely. She was able to easily flow between the male and female narration without missing a beat.

nsized from his job and dumped by his girlfriend, Harrison Allen longs for a fresh start. Alone, with no prospects or plans, he relocates to a borrowed house on Friars Island in Lake Champlain to relax, contemplate, and begin redefining his life. Then he hears about the monsters . . . Creatures - perhaps similar to those of Loch Ness - are said to inhabit the murky waters and fogbound marshes of his new island home. His interest piqued, Harrison becomes preoccupied with finding them.

Are you kidding me? This might have been a passable short story, but not a long drawn out novel. To make it even more tedious, there were chapters within the chapters. The narrator’s voice wasn’t bad, but it was the same for many of the local folks.

The Story was not bad, but when the narrator switched to the Australian accent it was like nails on a blackboard. Didn't anyone listen to the book before releasing it to the public? I had the other books in the series on my wish list, but I am removing them. I want to clarify that the narrator was good until she switched to the Australian accent.
