Hot as sin with that all-knowing smirk creates an instant spark. But dating a firefighter isn't all it's cracked up to be. Chase keeps me at distance even when I attempt to break down his walls. A friendship with the nosy eccentric woman down the street reveals there's more to Chase than he's willing to share. I'm playing with fire and bound to get burned.

This book was one of those that made you laugh, cry, and swoon. Callie Gordon is a planner...now she is an excited planner...landed first full-time job out of college-check...bought first house-check...new boyfriend prospect-maybe check? Callie's new house is just down the block from Fire Station 10 and, on move-in day, she meets uber hot Captain Chase Matthews. There is mega chemistry between these two and they soon start dating...all is well in Callie-land...or is it? While Callie is an open book, Chase is very secretive but Callie is patient, hoping that he will eventually open up...especially about Tiff, the woman that keeps giving Callie the stink eye. Also, what is with Chase's firehouse nickname, 'Hugh', that is such a big secret? Will this relationship survive? There is lots of drama in this book...drama, a stalker, a womanizer, a kooky old lady, lots of alcohol and a nice guy...you will be constantly guessing about what comes next. While I enjoyed this book, and the narration, I have a couple of peeves that took away a star for me...I don't applaud young women drinking to the point of passing out. Secondly, the beginning of each chapter did get a bit annoying 'I hate...or I love...' and it was a very long book. Again, these are my personal peeves, otherwise, it is a great book.

Private detective, Heinrich Muller, is hired by the widow of an antiques dealer to investigate her husband's murder. This dealer worked with Nazi memorabilia. Heinrich travels to Europe and, when he learns that his client's husband may have uncovered a lost Nazi train, goes undercover and is pulled into the dark side of neo-Nazi militia, aka the Purity League. Heinrich's 'credentials' is a past that he'd rather forget...his grandfather was a Nazi officer. With the aid of a Polish civil rights leader and a disillusioned teen boy, Heinrich races to solve the mystery and stay alive. This is a fast paced, action packed story with some humorous moments. Excellent narration that pulled you into the characters, and great ending. This is a new-to-me author, as well as narrator, and will definitely look for more of their work.

First off, I love this series! Following Beth and Donovan's relationship in this series has been a joy...but, boy oh boy, do these two get into trouble! In this final book, Beth and Donovan get married and head off for their honeymoon in Hawaii...what can go wrong? As if bad guys hunting them down isn't enough, the pair are ripped apart by a Tsunami! Will they survive this latest test? Of course the bad guys survive the Tsunami, so it's a race against time to find each other before the bad guys get their job done. Did I mention that I love this series! Each book is packed with non-stop action, bad guys and this bad@$$ couple. This book does not disappoint and the narration is on point. Our favorite couple finally get an HEA and I am sad to see the end of the series...hopefully we will see them in a spin-off...I'm looking for Thorne's story (hint...lol).

This is just the distraction that she needs to get over her failed engagement and recovery from a bout with breast cancer. Her hometown, with her brother and sister-in-law, is all she needs to lick her wounds and get her life back on track. Now she just needs a handyman to help with the renovations on the house. She places an ad for a 'handyman/husband'. Wyatt Grayson also needs a break from his life...after a devastating loss, he sells his construction company and is travelling the country. He lands in Timber Creek and learns that Rylee needs help with her house...this is just the distraction that he needs. Rylee doesn't hesitate to hire Wyatt, after all his price is dirt cheap, plus room and board. Over several weeks, Wyatt and Rylee work together to restore the old house and get to know each other. Feelings grow and we just know that this pair can heal each other's hurts/scars...but will they? Can Wyatt get past his loss to let Rylee into his heart? Meanwhile, there is a great sub story with Rylee's brother and SIL; as well as Wyatt's identical twin, Sam. Loved the HEA and I am really looking forward to the rest of the series.

On her first day at the beach house, Greer is drawn to her neighbor's back yard by the giggles of children. When they eventually meet, Greer is enraptured with the girls...and the dad isn't too bad either. Then learning the murderer is a chief inspector of police...hmmm. Inspector Nick Burton is horrified that his best friend & chief, Dan Davies, has not only been arrested for murder, but has confessed. He is unable to see his friend that day and then the next day..wham! his friend is dead. Nick refuses to leave the investigation alone and begins his own. He learns that Dan was involved in an experiment, led by university professor who believes that the mind can manipulate the body. This professor has been known to use his mind to levitate or move objects. One of the professor's assistants, and a new love interest for Nick, explains the the experiment but it is still mind boggling. The more that Nick delves into this experiment, the more bizarre it appears. Running parallel to his private investigation, Nick is leading a task force to take down a local crime family that leaves his new love ultra concerned for his safety. The book is fast paced and the ending will leave you gasping because there is a HUUUUUGE plot twist. Well played Mr. Author, well played...lol

Just a few days shy of graduation and Darla attends her very first college frat party. She meets a cute and interesting frat boy; they play board games, talk...and eventually do more; but that time is cut short by a fire. The kicker...they never exchanged real names...she was Juliet and he was Romeo. Some months later, Darla discovers that Romeo is now her former roommate's 'love of her life'...and Darla is pregnant. She attempts to contact Romeo but after several emails without a response, she finally receives one that says 'leave me alone'. Heartbroken and alone, Darla is left to raise her daughter as a single parent. Forward 7 years and Darla is a nurse at her alma mater's teaching hospital. She has a good support group and is raising an energetic and precocious little girl. Imagine her surprise when she is testing the incoming 'batch' of doctors for the new school year, when she comes face to face with Romeo.
Dr. Theo Edwards is returning to his hometown and alma mater to complete his medical training. His goal is to go abroad and work with Doctors Without Boarders. As a diabetic since age 7, Theo...who's also a preacher's kid...has always had a heart for the less fortunate. Becoming a doctor is his way of helping others...he does not want the high paying practice and prestige that his girlfriend wants for him...and her. Although he's been with Mallory since graduating college, he knows that the relationship has run its course and it's time to move on...besides which, he's never really gotten over that one girl, Juliet.
When Darla and Theo meet after 7yrs, it's not sunshine and rainbows...at least for Darla! She harbors resentment for being rejected by Theo. Theo is excited to finally meet Darla again and doesn't understand why she's cold and aloof...but he has no plans to walk away, not this time. But how will he react when he learns that he has a daughter...especially when he has always believed that his diabetes will prevent him from reproducing? Will Darla tell Theo the truth? Theo's ex has also moved to Nashville with the hope of them getting back together...will she succeed?
There is quite a bit going on in this story...lots of miscommunication and lost chances, but also unconditional love and forgiveness. The beginning was a bit slow but overall a great story.

Ahhhh Fiiiin!!! Swoon! After reading Dean's story, where Finn 'dropped in', I was sooo looking forward to Finn's story...and I was not disappointed. Lots of steam, but so glad that Finn wasn't a sexy, jerk, manwh*re!
On her first day as a hostess at a fine dining restaurant, Hailee's first task is to go the market with a list of items that she's never heard of before. Luckily, she runs into a hottie who helps her gather everything. She explains that it's her first day, she has no experience working at a restaurant...and that she heard that the chef is a hard@$$. I'm sure you can imagine that probably was not a good idea...to share with a total stranger. To Hailee's surprise, when she arrives back at the restaurant, the chef is non other than the hottie who helped her in the market. Instead of firing her for lying on her application, the chef, Finn King, insists that she work for a few weeks in the kitchen tasting every dish on the menu, helping prep, clean, etc. before she can assume her hostess position. The chemistry between the pair is off the charts haawwwt but will they do anything about it? Since Finn is her boss and all. Meanwhile, Finn, who already has a YouTube series, is working with a TV network to gain his own TV show. What surprises Finn and Hailee the most, is Hailee's natural talent to discern all of the flavors in a dish and give an intelligent critique. Finn offers Hailee a side job of helping him to try out dishes for his TV pilot...enough money that would help Hailee fulfill her dream of leaving her small hometown. This arrangement gives them the opportunity to get to know each other and they begin to secretly date. Can this relationship withstand their individual insecurities? I love that we get a cameo of Dean and Grandma Rosie...also love Hailee's grandma. Overall a beautiful story...love those King brothers...mwah!
