I am Damien Stark. From the outside, I have a perfect life. A billionaire with a beautiful family. But if you could see inside my head, you’d know I’m as f--ked up as a person can be. Now more than ever. I’m driven, relentless, and successful, but all of that means nothing without my wife and daughters. They’re my entire world, and I failed them. Now I can barely look at them without drowning in an abyss of self-recrimination. Only one thing keeps me sane - losing myself in my wife’s silken caresses where I can pour all my pain into the one thing I know I can give her.

After four books and three novellas I was pretty much done with Damien and Nikki’s world.. however, when this book came up and I saw it was narrated by Jason Clarke, I couldn’t resist once again delving into the lives of my favorite couple. Plus it’s an Audible Escape book so it’s pretty much free.. win win all around I thought. Unfortunately though, I was pretty bored most of the way through.. endless declarations of love and devotion, Damien’s remorse and meltdown over his daughter’s kidnapping in a previous book, lots and lots of sex, then drama right at the end. I kept on listening because hello people.. Jason Clarke (sigh), but, if it wasn’t for his swoon-worthy sexy voice and his awesome skill as a narrator, I doubt I would’ve got to the end.

Worth a credit? Thankfully it was free. I, like most of you, absolutely loved, loved, loved the Stark trilogy but I wonder just how many spin offs and novellas can J. Kenner get from one devoted married couple? But this is just my opinion.. the devoted Stark followers will, no doubt, love it.

In Carrie Drazen’s diamond-studded world, beauty is everything: a blessing, a commodity, and a curse. Her beauty got her past the velvet ropes and into high society, but it ripped her away from the man she loved and chained her to an unbearable life. Then, in a single night, a song played by a mysterious and secretive musician carries her back to a past ripe with possibilities, when love could open any door. Who is this anonymous performer? She needs to know. But sometimes masks exist for a reason, and this unveiling could scar them both.

What an absolutely compelling, multilayered and unique listen this was.. every single word had meaning, depth and emotional significance as this well-paced love story takes the listener through a drama-filled journey of beautiful sweet highs and tragic bitter lows of a young love doomed to end in tears. Again and again Ms Reiss delivers stories that grip me, thrill me and emotionally wreck me.. and I applaud her brilliance as an author.. I’m in awe of her imaginative mind.. and I love her ability to bring out so so many feels.

I was blown-away at the way she constructed this beautiful Romeo and Juliet/gritty Beauty and the Beast themed plot and turned it into an epic story of redemption, forgiveness, acceptance, sacrifice and second-chances. Her beautifully written lyrical passages touched my soul, tore my heart out and worked it’s magic to heal my broken heart. The chemistry was intense as College students Carrie and Gabriel first meet and instantly connect.. the beautiful rich girl and the handsome gifted violinist who think they can keep it simple.. she was the melody to his symphony. But they were innocent pawns in a rich man’s world.. his to manoeuvre, sacrifice, destroy or save.

Worth a credit? Yes. The construction of its past/present chapters was, IMO, flawless.. it’s a twisty tragic tale with a HEA ending, it’s a beautiful love story, it’s a rags to riches romance, it’s a hard-hitting rip your heart out novel that packs quite a punch. It’s dark.. it’s light, it’s paragraphs hold passion, promises, purity and deep love. It’s a blockbuster of a listen because the narration was so absolutely perfect.. part 1 was Carrie’s PoV and part 2 was Gabriel’s shorter PoV.

I, Emma Loveless, have a destiny. It's not the greatest of destinies, but when you have a name like Loveless, what can you do? I'm cursed to always be the friend, never the girlfriend. Unless you count my love affair with Duncan Hines, Dr. Pepper, and the ever-lovable Pillsbury Doughboy. It doesn't help that I have a meddling, albeit wonderful, mother who can't help playing matchmaker. Thanks to her, I can say I've been on a date with a felon. Now she swears she's found the one for me, her new optometrist, Dr. Sawyer King.

This book was truly truly wicked.. wickedly fun, wickedly light, wickedly entertaining and wickedly emotional too as Emma’s lengthy journey from friends to lovers brought out so many wickedly conflicting feels. I loved her quirky relatable character, I wanted to sit her down in front of a mirror and show her how beautiful she truly was both inside and out and I felt for her during the sad times, the challenges and the unrequited love she had for swoon-worthy Sawyer. I also got, shared and could probably one-up her love for all things sweet and deliciously bad for your waistline too. However, I also wanted to knock both their heads together hoping that’d shock some sense into these two best friends because they drove me nuts at times.

Worth a credit? It was a sweet, sex and swear free, fun-based slow-burn that built and built until it’s final chapters, it was nicely told from Emma’s compassionate and loving PoV, it had angst, drama, strained family dynamics and was packed throughout with fun banter and lol humor.. and yes, IMO, it’s worth a credit. Loved the yummy cover image too.

It wasn’t meant to be this way - she shouldn’t have fallen for my brother and left me for him. But she did. And now I’m left to pick up the pieces of my shattered, broken heart. And to top it off, they want me to come to their wedding. Do they think I’m a pushover? Do they think of me as a joke? There’s one unexpected surprise though: Storm. She blew in just like one and makes the pain diminish. She’s exactly as her name describes her - she is a storm. A beautiful and powerful one. But not all things are meant to last.

I loved this second instalment from TLS who has written about two characters damaged by their past relationships, she then manoeuvres them together for a ‘one and done’ night and follows up with a good dose of fireworks, blurring of boundaries, tentative beginnings, storm clouds, sunny skies and happy ever afters. It’s definitely not a new trope.. in fact my library’s got quite a few of them however, if they’re done right, I never tire of the theme because the characters themselves, their backstories and their futures are all so wonderfully different.

Owned by four friends (who have all stolen my heart), Crimson Elite is a very private snazzy Sex Club where the privileged go to ‘play’.. you can just drink and watch the acrobatic performers overhead.. or you can ‘indulge’ yourself privately or publicly with the willing women within. Each of the books in this sexy series focuses on one of the owners. However, the Club is very much in the background and only occasionally mentioned in passing and, in this book, there is only one or two brief scenes set behind its elite doors. 99.999% was Storm and Echo’s rollercoaster ride to happiness.. which is a mix of lust, sizzling chemistry, tension, angst and family drama.

Worth a credit? IMO yes.. an entertaining well-paced story with great dual POV narration. There’s a bruised but not broken alpha hero and a strong caring redhead who didn’t know what she was getting herself into when she said yes to the sexy drool-worthy stranger. With sex, passion, humor, a crazy b’ch of an ex, a family with nasty messed-up dynamics and a supportive network of four very different chosen brothers. The downside - a little bit short and I really miss an Epilogue.. but I hope books 3 and 4 will give us a glimpse of the loveable Storm and Echo again.

Every now again I’m tempted by a vampire love story.. AKM is a new author to me but I was lured in by the delicious temptation of a new paranormal world where the possibilities are endless and the anticipation for magical mayhem priceless. And this very addictive story didn’t disappoint.. in fact it surpassed, surprised and definitely satisfied me with its very entertaining story.

Victor, a many centuries old vampire, is probably the wealthiest man on the planet, but he suddenly loses his tight rein on his more lusty ‘vampiric’ nature.. he goes on a bloodthirsty sexual binge to try to sate his ever-growing desires. But, as his all-consuming lust threatens to spiral out of control, he suddenly smells a delicious fragrance of honey and wildflowers that captivates him, draws him in, sharpens his sights, centers his focus and fuels his desire for.. a mystery woman hiding somewhere in the crowd. Victor must try to catch her heady alluring scent again and claim his bloodmate before it’s too late. However, his high-octane search will reveal far more than he ever expected, will bring out a side of him that no one had ever seen before (including him), will bring enemies to his door, will confuse, shock and sate his desires.. and will change his (.. and his mate’s) lives forever.

Worth a credit? Yes.. as long as you like the fantasy genre where anything is possible.. including an ‘instant’ love as two paranormal soulmates find each other. Don’t be put off by the length of this fast-paced light listen.. Ava packed a whole hell of a lot into her 32 chapters.. great characters (vampires, werewolves, witches, fae, dragons), world-building, humor, sex, passion, a smouldering hero, a sweet yet feisty heroine, various threats and a HEA ending. But it was Jason Hill’s outstanding and awesome narration that truly brought this sweet fairytale to life as he injected, infused and inflected all the feels that made this, for me, a 5 star listen.

Hummm.. well, I’ve gone through many different and varied opinions of this trilogy as I was binge-listening to it.. and they ranged from gripping, masterful, sexy, tense, thrilling, exciting, tender and romantic to - repetitive, frustrating, boring, over-sexed and, in the end, a wee bit rushed. But, despite its peaks and troughs, this dual POV trilogy was very enjoyable, suspenseful and often intense as clues had to be slowly pieced together, a murderer with his (or her) reasons had to be uncovered, motives had to be revealed, all secrets had to be disclosed, trust had to be given and earned.. and foundations had to be laid for an all-consuming love. Book 1 is, IMO, the best.. closely followed by book 2 and then, despite its revelations, book 3 because of its repetitive ‘trust’ issues.

Erin and Jason (sigh) did a fantastic job as usual with the narration and they infused, injected and inflected all the fundamental elements together to enable me to create colorful mental images, to bring the story and its characters to life and to cringe, blush, reel, rock and relish every word.

Worth a credit? Yes, IMO, it would’ve been.. however, I didn’t have to use any - and that’s the beauty of being a member of the Romance Package.. it’s a win win situation and there’s nothing to lose.. well except time and patience of course :)

Over the years I have enjoyed some of Winter Renshaw’s other books.. but sadly, and disappointingly, not this one. Avie Paige’s narration was ok but the dual POV story cried out for a good male narrator.. and a female narrator who can convincingly sound like a male.. but alas it wasn’t to be.

It stretches over four parts.. but (IMO) it rushes, jumps and leaps throughout, it felt rushed, had no depth and threads were woven but were then left dangling never to be mentioned again. WR told you in a brief sentence rather than actually showing you the scene unfold.. so the mental images were more 2D than 3D. I worked my way through the story.. but I was disappointed that I didn’t feel any chemistry, that the characters weren’t fully developed and that the pace was off. The heroine was 18 the hero 19 then it skip-jumped 10 yrs and there was anxiety, angst, drama, misunderstandings, secrets.. blah blah blah.

Worth a credit? “Never judge a book by its cover.. never judge a book by its cover.. never judge a book.... and sorry folks that’s a no.

This was my first from Abby Brooks.. but it definitely won’t be my last because this was such a sweet and touching love story that grabbed my interest from the start and kept me riveted. She lost her journal.. he found her journal.. it was a private outpouring of her deepest inner thoughts and musings.. it was his insight into her beautiful soul. His guilt, passion, promises and email address left on a blank page of the recently reclaimed journal was his way of trying to tentatively reach out and connect soul-to-soul.. and her forgiveness and inner strength will eventually lead to more. However, they hadn’t met in person and only used nicknames while emailing each other their thoughts, secrets and emotions.. meanwhile life happens and they each meet someone else, someone who truly connects with them, someone who is pulling them in very different directions. As feelings grow decisions must be made, torn between.. head or heart?.. here or there?.. known or unknown? a beloved face or a faceless fantasy? Kismet or Karma?.. and behind the scenes Fate and Destiny are stirring the pot with impish glee.

Worth a credit? Yes definitely.. even if it’s been done before and was a wee bit predictable. This love story had a nice pace to the build-up, it was a slow burn of a plot with intense chemistry and good backstories. The writing was sometimes thought provoking, heartfelt, touching and passionate.. with low angst, some humor, a splash or two of sex and lots of feels. The ex Navy Seal hero was damaged yet loving, generous, genuine and family oriented - the heroine was getting over a bitter breakup yet remained positive, caring, open and kind. It also seamlessly introduces you to all the members of the Hutton family, it’s dynamics and it’s many siblings who will all (hopefully) find their own HEA. The dual POV narration by Heather and Brandon was good.
