In this intimate, haunting, literary memoir read by the author, an American icon tells her story for the first time, in her own gorgeous words - about a challenging and lonely childhood, the craft that helped her find her voice, and a powerful emotional legacy that shaped her journey as a daughter and a mother.

If it hadn’t been for silly things like sleep, personal hygiene and my family, I never would’ve stopped listening to this powerful story. Sally Field is magnificent...in her honesty, her reading and her ability to navigate her captivating life. To have her read her own story is a gift, and 5 stars isn’t enough. You don’t have to be a fan of hers to get wrapped up in her story...you just have to be human. As a woman, a daughter and a mom I can’t thank her enough for her story.

For the Owens family, love is a curse that began in 1620, when Maria Owens was charged with witchery for loving the wrong man. Hundreds of years later, in New York City at the cusp of the '60s, when the whole world is about to change, Susanna Owens knows that her three children are dangerously unique.

I love Alice Hoffman...have for years. I was thrilled to see another on the way and pre-ordered this book. I am currently on chapter 3 and had to stop to write this. The narration is awful. It's unfeeling, dull and any attempts at character personalization fall flat. I hate this person who is ruining my usually enthralled, enlightened Alice Hoffman experience. Mystical detail and rich character development are Hoffman staples! Why are you ruining them with your boring, monotone delivery?! I will keep listening in the hopes the story becomes so enticing I won't notice her snore-fest.
