Master entrepreneur, original hip-hop mogul, and New York Times best-selling author Russell Simmons shares the most fundamental key to success - meditation - and guides listeners to use stillness as a powerful tool to access their potential. In the New York Times best-seller Super Rich, Russell Simmons proved that to be rich is more than just having money in the bank - wealth is about balance, joy, and conscientious living. In Success Through Stillness, Simmons shows the connection between inner peace and outward success.

Really, really enjoyed this book. I am a TM meditator but I am not as consistent as I should be and I know I am not getting the long-term benefits from stopping my practice. Russell has reminded me of the importance of consistency and meditating every day. And the narration was perfect in capturing Russell's voice.

  • The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck

For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

I started off thinking that the message in this book was similar to Essentialism by McGowan , and it is. But a little different and maybe even more personal. I was surprised that it was more profound than I expected. It was a delight to listen to and I am glad I stayed with it. I might listen to some parts of it again.

I don't typically like books that are not narrated by the author because they don't feel authentic. But this narrator gave it the color it deserved.

This is my second time listening to this book. I have committed to listen to it again and again, almost like a coaching book. I need to hear the message over and over again.

I am lucky to make enough to pay off some debt right away and save the first rainy day fund. I feel energized that I can get out of debt relatively quickly.

Dave Ramsey made me realize that I still have time to save well for retirement. I am so excited to go down this path.

Excellent book, I will listen to over and over again.

I loved this book. At first (and throughout) the author sounds like a big kid. It was hard to take him seriously at first. Then you realize that he has some good real-life experience and he's learned some really insightful lessons. What I love is that he also reminds us to look for the good in our current jobs and how that keeps you going until you have your dream job. It's a perspective I had not heard before. But really, it's how practical the advice is that I liked. It's literally a how-to not just theory. He admits his mistakes in a funny way and the listener can picture these things happening. I might listen to it again right away to better capture some of the learnings.

On The Power of Vulnerability, Dr. Brown offers an invitation and a promise - that when we dare to drop the armor that protects us from feeling vulnerable, we open ourselves to the experiences that bring purpose and meaning to our lives. Here she dispels the cultural myth that vulnerability is weakness and reveals that it is, in truth, our most accurate measure of courage.

I am not entirely sure what to say about this audio book. I am still a little emotional after the end. Brene touches every sensitive nerve in my body.

I picked up this book because of what I do every day. I coach teams at work. I coach the tech geeks on how to work together. It struck me when I saw the title, that the way they trust me is by me showing vulnerability.

What I didn't realize, is all the places that this book would take me. The part about play struck such a nerve, that I ordered the book called play by Stuart Brown.

I love that this seems to be a recording of a seminar. It makes you feel like you were there because she speaks with full emotion. I will listen to this again and order daring greatly. And hope that I get to see brene speak in person someday.
