When Grace Pembleton inherited her grandfather's business in rural Pennsylvania, she had no idea what else she was in for. She thought life as a bed-and-breakfast owner would be a quiet one, that the only trouble she'd encounter would be making enough coffee for guests. What she gets instead is a violent gnome, a resident ghost, a secret society, and continuous brushes with the supernatural. Even with new friends at her side, she struggles to fulfill her family's legacy of protecting the town. Then a new threat arises, and it wants Grace.

This story was just flat out not good. It had potential but the main character was depressing and just never rose to the occasion. I tried twice to listen and each time fell asleep. Hopefully the author can bounce back from this mistake as a story.

O Rose thou art sick. /The invisible worm, /That flies in the night /In the howling storm: /Has found out thy bed /Of crimson joy: /And his dark secret love / Does thy life destroy. Those eight lines constitute the complete text of “The Sick Rose,” published by William Blake in Songs of Experience in 1794. I took to Blake early on, and thought Of Crimson Joy would make a dandy title. I accordingly fastened it on this novel when I sent the manuscript to Harry Shorten at Midwood.

I could definitely tell this was written long ago...I thought it would have been much more raunchy as it's labeled erotica but this was no more than a coming of age story... not erotica. I felt sorry for both main characters actually but it seemed to work out in the end. The narrator did an excellent job!!!

Doctors tend to the needs of their patients, but patients give meaning to the lives of their doctors. So it is for Cullen Brodie, a twice-divorced California nephrologist, and Ennis Willoughby, a troubled cross-dresser whose life is saved by a rare heart-and-kidney transplant. Cullen’s bitter disbelief in the afterlife is tested when Ennis begins to exhibit tastes and characteristics uncannily similar to those of his female organ donor - whose first name Ennis inexplicably knows.

This story was awesome!! It contained compassion, love, self endurance and human togetherness. The major disappointment I had with this audiobook was the narrator gave my beloved main character a very deep deep voice and I know for certain he would had had a feminine voice. That's the main attribute to a trans woman the voice changes. Other than that I loved everything about this story! It was beautiful!!!!

There Were Several Emotions That Triggered While Writing The Review For This Story...The First Is Distance..I Didn't Appreciate The Way The Author Had Disrespectful Scenes In The Church.. Being That Religion Is Close To My Heart It Left A Very Sour Taste In My Mouth... The Second Emotion Was Skepticism...I Wanted To Believe In The Main Character But Its Hard To Imagine A 28 Year Old Madame..Most Madames Are Much Older So The Mistakes That Were Made That Ensued The Plot Could Have Made The Story More Believable If She Was More Seasoned... The Last And Final Emotion Was Disappointment..The Ending Could Have Made The Reader Look Forward To The Next Book But All It Did Was Make The Character Look Undeveloped... Better Luck Next Time...
