I think this was another high quality effort from Lisa Kleypas - one of my favorites! I miss some of the lighthearted wittiness of others of her novels, but it was still very engaging. The narrator read well, but her voices for males hadn’t near the range of Susan’s renditions, and it seemed to lack some of the interpretive nuances. Worth a listen, but I hope we can get the previous narrator back for future releases!

No one loves books more than Miss Mary Channing. Perhaps that's why she's reached the ripe old age of six-and-twenty without ever being kissed. Her future may be as bland as milk toast, but Mary is content to simply dream about the heroes and adventures she reads about in her books. That way she won't end up with a villain instead.

I’m so pleased to have discovered another excellent writer in this genre. I’ve read nearly everything by Lisa Kleypas (even in the paranormal realm), Julia Quinn, and others of my favorites. Hurrah for Jennifer, Audible, and a Google search for similar authors! Fortunately, Ms. Weston is an excellent narrator, and does the book justice. Thanks!
I’ll be listening to the rest of her works on Audible:)

This book has it all! I love a good plot with intriguing characters which also manages to make me laugh out loud! The humor should be more wit than “slapstick.”

Rosalyn Landor is so very good at narrating this sort of book that I select nearly everything she reads. Sometimes I even wonder if I miss subtle humor from other authors when she is not the narrator !

What a great pairing! Courtney Milan, in this book, had some similarities to Julia Quinn (whom I also adore). Highly recommended!

The story line was very enjoyable. I'm glad I listened to the book. The narrator did a very good job with the voices. I'm not certain why, but sometimes, it dragged just a little. I think maybe the narrator's pace was a little slow for me, or maybe the dialogue needed to be a hair wittier. Not sure. It was good but not like, say, a Lisa Kleypas or Julia Quinn book read by someone like Susan Duerdon or Rosalyn Landor. Still - cute, and worth a listen. I'd have liked to have a 1-10 rating, this time, rather than 1-5. The narrator was a little better than a 3.

I'm just trying to bring out the points I'd want to consider in using my own credits.

Eloisa James is among my favorite authors, as well . It's especially enjoyable, when two artists pair so well . This book is exemplary!

If you like historical romance with characters you really get to know (and love), wit mixed balanced with deeper emotion, and underlying literary references, this whole set of novels will delight! I can't decide which is my favorite, but i believe it's this one. Read them all! In order, if you can...
