When Piper Sinclair finds herself hauled in by a bounty hunter in connection with her family's crimes, the sheriff's word that she wasn't involved should be enough to make her captor let her go. But Wiley Easton isn't buying it. He's heard that a woman was involved in the crime spree that left several people - including his own father dead. If the sheriff won't lock her up until the judge arrives, he'll keep her captive and naked so she can't escape.

I'm beginning to become a very big Vanessa Vale fan. I love that she's not afraid to write about things that are sure to be enjoyed by those with a good and lusty sense of humor. I quickly became very engaged in the book, both the interesting story and likeable characters. Judge Applebee was the turning point that took this story from corney to hilarious. Not to mention I could listen to Gregory Selinas voice all day long! He did fantastic with both the male and female characters.

This story line is not your typical romance trope. The two main characters are likeable and interesting while the narration does a decent job giving everyone life. I will say the plot conclusions leave a little to be desired. But over all they're satisfying in a way that gives them more substance than the usual - wham, bam, everything extraordinary and happy. Got so hooked, I stayed up all night just to finish the story. Listened too at 1.15 speed

The knitting in the city series has been entertaining, but until I came across Ashley's and Drew's story I was slowly starting to be less interested, wondering if Quinn and Janie were going to top off the series.

This story not only ignited my desire to continue the series, but sparked my desire to go back and read some of the old classics that I haven't touched in a while. E. E. Cummings, Lord Byron and even Nietzsche in small doses.

The feeling and emotion tied in with the story line of a family losing their mother mixed with multiple subplots and of course, our heroines slow burning romance was brilliant. Penny Reid out did herself with this 1st person narrative. The story had me smiling, laughing, crying and swooning along the way. And unlike the past few books, Ashley was written as a character who wasn't constantly in the kind of self doubt that makes you roll your eyes in disbelief. Instead, it kept me fully engaged and was well paced. I especially enjoyed when Ashley would step out of the book and let us, the reader, know just how ridiculous she had acted as if she were here telling us the story herself.

I've been renewed to go on the the next book in the series. Here's to finally getting to know Fiona and Greg!

Wow.... I'm stunned the editor didn't negate all the repetitive phrasing and overall cheesy descriptive narrative. I ended up listening to it in 1.25 speed because I couldn't imagine going through a whole 12 hours. Usually I like Antony Ferguson, but he needs a new female impression. I fell asleep at chapter 31, woke up at chapter 50, and didn't even need to go back to know what had happened. Slightly entertaining, mostly I listen to it because I subscribe to the Romance package and didn't have much to lose besides time.

I hate to be cruel to our sex, but this female geared novela took every single twist in the book, and put it together with some of the most absurd language I've ever imagine being published. I'm so sorry to say it, because I really wanted to like it, the beginning of the story opened well which is why I gave it 2 stars. Every character in the book was super stereotypical. And if I heard him say she was "a woman who needed to be kept" one more time, I was going to vomit. The fact that he actually called her dumb to her face multiple times was maddening enough. he was a teacher fascinated by physics physics for God's sake!
I don't really understand why it was under sizzling in the romance Factor, there was only one real sex scene, and it wasn't that great. I think my favorite part of the story, was the dogs.
The author herself read it in a style that would have been meant for a children's fairy tale which made it 10x worse to listen too. Possibly if she had a less rushed, less motherly like voice, and practiced her male voices, she might better win me over. But overall the production was rushed and her inflections were all wrong. It made me feel like Opie and Papa Smurf were battling it out for her "love".
the end, was also nothing to brag about. If you are listening to it for free, go ahead it's vaguely entertaining. However if you're considering paying even a dollar for it, I'd recommend looking somewhere else! This is something I would expect to pay a quarter for at a garage sale. Nothing more.
