State Road 177 runs along the Suwannee River, between Fargo, Georgia, and the Okefenokee Swamp. Drive that route from east to west, and you'll cross six bridges. Take it from west to east, and you might find seven. But you'd better hope not. Titus and Davina Bell leave their hotel in Fargo for a second honeymoon canoeing the Okefenokee Swamp. But shortly before they reach their destination, they draw up to a halt at the edge of a rickety bridge with old stone pilings, with room for only one car....

Southern Gothic horror is the best choice for horror to enjoy during the summer. The heat & humidity plus the shadows the trees throw when the summer sun starts to set just lend to the perfect atmosphere on the mountaintop I live on to put on a Southern Gothic book & this was the perfect choice for today’s book. Atmospheric and suspenseful, this is a great choice of book to read!

honestly can’t rave enough about this series/Tricia Levenseller in general. I first read “Warrior of the Wild” after looking at its summary for a few months when I just really needed a good escape. I started this series finally bc I needed another sure fire escape & honestly pirate siren princess is pretty damn perfect for that

I loved this! Tricia Levenseller is quickly becoming a favorite YA author of mine with this series and Warrior of the Wild. She writes such unique fantasy stories with characters I quickly fall in love with- I absolutely loved reading this! Marisa Calin does brilliantly with narrating Levenseller’s writings. Can’t wait to start book two!

Really love this series so far- can’t believe it took me so long to finally read it but I’m happy I started! It feels like a slightly more adult version of Tamora Pierce’s Tortall world - very pleased with that sovde that was the very first fantasy series I ever read at age 13.

3.5 rounded up to 4/5 stars. I really only finished this because the characters and life is so different from my own that I was intrigued but it did get rather boring. That might be because I’ve been marathoning YA fantasy, though & I didn’t hate it- I liked it well enough, I just need more in a romcom. It was nice to get used to the dialect and accent enough that I can finally say it’s an easy accent for me to understand whereas before due to auditory processing issues I could not.

The first chapter has a technical issue that makes it play only in one side but the rest are perfect & I loved this story a lot. Definitely worth putting up with 29 minutes of weird at the beginning. The story & characters are very vivid & for what I’m assuming is a stand alone, it feels very full still which sometimes isn’t done with fantasy novels. 5:5 I listened to t in one sitting

Not content to simply read about these cases on paper, Thomson reached out to 10 people with these afflictions, and they agreed to tell her their stories.

I really enjoyed this book a lot! I’ve been having medical issues the past 3 years now and as such, I’ve really appreciated books like these a lot more than I ever did before. Nonfiction can be difficult for me to finish- via text nearly impossible but still hard via audiobook. This one was easy to engage with & the writer does a great job narrating her work without ever getting dry or monotone. Typically medical science nonfiction is best when read by the author but sometimes it’s too dry of a job- definitely not the case here & I really appreciated her cadence. 5/5, tho not in depth on the cases if you’ve a passing interest in brain disorders that are unusual, you’re probably aware these disorders exist & will find simply the interviews themselves fascinating.

I’m so glad I didn’t return it, hahah it gave me such a nostalgic feeling like when I was 12 & just “discovered” the fantasy genre for the first time. Such a great first book and i cannot wait for book two to come out in 2020!
